JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE:Community Development Officer
SALARY:18.5-22k
HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 Hours per week
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
To develop and increase the presence of Wigan Warriors throughout all localities across the borough of Wigan by providing opportunities to access healthy recreation, sports participation and educational opportunities for harder to reach members of the community. Throughout all outreach work the key agenda is to create a culture of engaging more people, involving them in more activity and creating more supporters of Wigan Warriors.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Foundation Manager
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Actively increase the number of individuals regularly participating in Rugby League, developing school/HE/FE club links and give everyone the opportunity to achieve their potential.
- Develop and deliver programmes that link to both core and extra curriculum delivery for Primary & Secondary schools and maximise the number of partner schools the foundation works with across the borough of Wigan and beyond.
- Work towards and achieve income targets set by SKY TRY and the Community Foundation.
- To support Wigan Warriors Community Foundation Education with Training initiatives including engagement programmes for disengaged members of the community of all ages and provision for ex-offenders.
- Develop and deliver programmes that contribute to the health agenda and significantly increase the number of individuals involved in healthy recreation across the borough of Wigan.
- To work towards key club objectives that will maximise ticketing and promotional initiatives at grassroots level and beyond through all activities delivered.
- Promote , develop and deliver an effective school club links programme by identifying players from education to continue playing in clubs
- Prepare, deliver and evaluate Wigan Warriors Community Foundation programmes with target market segments
- Support the delivery of the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation Development plan including partnership work with public and private organisations
- Manage Social Media marketing campaigns and day-to-day website activities
- Oversee design of promotional material (posters, flyers, profile pics, Ads, twitter)
- To monitor effectiveness of methods of consultation and contribute to the evaluationof joint partner projects.
- Contribute to actively identifying and sourcing new funding opportunities for Wigan Warriors Community Foundation
- Work unsociable hours to include bank holidays, early mornings, evenings and weekends when required

- To ensure the retention of valid and appropriate qualifications as identified in the person specification.
- To keep abreast of the latest developments in the industry and assist in the management of the department and strategy accordingly

- A Higher Level qualification in Sport & Coaching
- National Governing Body Coaching Qualification in Rugby League at a level that qualifies the individual to coach independently
- A current driving licence

- Equity in your Coaching
- How to Coach disabled sports performers

EXPERIENCE RELEVANT TO THE JOB
- Community Development experience at a professional sports club, sporting organisation or other appropriate agency
- Experience of forming and maintaining key strategic partnerships
- Experience of developing and maintaining relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- Clear demonstration of the ability to attract funding from a variety of sources
- Experience of creating, organising and implementing new Sport Development Programmes and initiatives
- Experience of working and delivering to young people at grass roots level
