NOTES RELATING TO THE DRAFT AGENDA

Note 1 Delegations are asked to abide by the following rules concerning attendance at the meeting:

Maximum of 3 delegates per accepted ExCB / ExTL (these may alternate with other delegates)

·  Representatives of candidate ExCB / ExTL and chairpersons / secretaries of IEC Technical committees TC31 / SC31 - may attend the meeting

·  ExTAG discussions may touch sensitive matters that must not be disclosed to manufacturers, users or other organisations that are not ExCBs or ExTLs. Observers are permitted to attend the meeting but may be asked to leave should the Chairman and members of ExTAG believe it to be required.

·  All delegations are encouraged to participate during discussions

Note 2 It is intended that the meeting be conducted in English, however allowances will be made for Delegates from non-English speaking countries, including allowing delegations to bring their own interpreter.

9. ExTAG Working Group Status - Review

To review the status of work conducted by the ExTAG Working Groups and to give consideration to the continuance of groups.

9.1 ExTAG ad hoc WG 1 Material Data

This ad hoc Working Group was formed during the Denver 2007 ExTAG Meeting. The aim of this WG is to establish a suitable process for addressing conformity assessment issues with materials for which the physical properties are not directly under the control of the IECEx Certificate holder. 9.2 ExTAG ad hoc WG2 Guidance for "Good working practices for IECEx Working Groups

During the Denver 2007 ExTAG meeting it was decided that ExTAG/109/CD be converted into a Guidance Document. The meeting also decided that this work should be ongoing to include the ExMC. An Ad hoc ExTAG Working group was formed to complete this work. The Convenor of this WG is Mr. Evans Massey.

9.3 ExTAG WG1, Preparation and maintenance of ExTRS

9.3.1 Status of ExTRs

Working Group 1 is tasked to create, revise and update the Ex Test Reports to be used within the IECEx Scheme. The work is ongoing.

9.3.2 Revision of OD 010/V1

The revision of OD 010/V1 Operational Document “Guidance for the Preparation of IECEx Test Reports (ExTRs) by IECEx Certification Bodies (ExCBs) and the Processing of ExTRs by Receiving ExCBs”

9.4 IECEx TAG WG2 Interpretations and Technical Enquires

The members took the decision, during the Brdo 2004 Meeting, to disband WG2 as an ExTAG WG.

9.5 IECEx TAG WG3 Documentation and Drawing Requirements

Working Group 3 was convened to produce a document to assist manufacturers in the preparation of drawings and documentation to be submitted with an application for certification. The work is ongoing.

9.6 IECEx TAG WG4, Uncertainty of Measurement

Working Group 4 was set up to build a proposal concerning the uncertainty of measurement and the use of test data in test reports. The work is ongoing (Report by Mr David Stubbings, Convenor)

9.7 IECEx TAG WG5 Verification of compliance to referenced Standards

During the Buxton 2005 Meeting it was found that the scope of ExTAG WG 5 overlapped with ExTAG WG 6 therefore the merging of these groups was proposed and agreed. ExTAG WG 5 is thereby disbanded and the former Convenor, Mr Paul Kelly, is now a member of ExTAG WG6.

9.8 IECEx TAG WG6 Procedures for testing at other locations - Verification of compliance to referenced Standards

Working Group 6 was formed as a result of discussions held during the 2003 ExTAG Budapest Meeting. The Working Group first met in Budapest in 2003 and reported to the ExMC Budapest Meeting. An initial Operational Document

OD 024 IECEx Rules of Procedure covering the use of “Other Testing Laboratories” for the purpose of third party assessment and certification was prepared for the 2006 Shanghai Meeting. After considerable discussion by the ExTAG it was recommended that the document required further work and hence was withdrawn. During the Denver 2007 meeting members accepted WMTL preferring to postpone RMTL.

Due to increased work commitments of the existing Convenor nominations are sought for a replacement convenor of this ExTAG WG.

9.9 IECEx TAG WG7- The exchange of informationbetween ExCBs of “Manufacturer’s Proprietary Information”

The members took the decision, during the Denver 2007 Meeting, to disband WG7 as an ExTAG WG.

9.10 ExTAG WG8 Common Assessment of IS Equipment and Systems

Working Group 8 was formed as a result of discussions held during the ExTAG meeting in Brdo, 2004. WG8 prepared OD 021/V2. Guidance document for the Assessment of IS equipment and Systems. During the ExTAG Denver 2007 meeting it was agreed that OD21/V2 be kept as a guide for IEC 60079-11Ed. 4 but considered that IEC 60079-11 Ed. 5 is complete enough and therefore no update is required.

9.11 ExTAG WG9 Ex 's' requirements

Working Group 9 was formed as a result of discussions held during the 2005 Buxton ExTAG Meeting. The terms of reference are to develop a common set of requirements that enables ExTRs and CoCs to be issued under the category of Ex 's' special protection.

9.12 ExTAG WG10 Proficiency Testing

It was decided during the ExMC Denver 2007 Meeting that it would be more appropriate for ExMCWG 9 to become an ExTAG WG with Dr Klausmeyer to remain convenor.

Mr Kerry McManama, currently serving as the ExTAG Chairman, and sole nominee for ExMC Chairman, has indicated that should his appointment as IECEx Chairman be approved, he would, in order to concentrate on his new duties, wish to step down as ExTAG Chairman. Therefore, ExTAG will be asked for a replacement nomination for ExTAG Chairman, should this occur.
