Instructions:

1) Explore mentors. Before completing this application, we recommend that youfamiliarize yourself withfaculty researchers at your institution of enrollment (i.e., UMN students identify UMN mentors). In the application, you may identify a mentor you wish to work with. This is not required at the time of application, but recommended.

2) Complete application and submit additional documentation. After applications are reviewed, students may be contacted by faculty mentors to further discuss their research interests and goals. DO NOT submit a full research proposal at this time. If you submit a full research proposal and you are selected for the program, it does not imply that your proposed study will be the project undertaken by your team.

3) Request a recommendation from a lecturer or professor from your institution. Students without faculty endorsement may be asked for additional information or a meeting with mentors or program leaders.

Notification.Student teams will be formedbased on similar or complementing research interests by Friday, March 30. You will be notified by email of your status. Not all students are ableto be matched; students not matched may apply again in future years.

-Academic transcripts from their institution. For UMN students unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

-Endorsement formcompleted by the applicant’s proposed mentor or a faculty member who can assess their potential for success in the URTC. Endorsements from faculty should be submitted online, using the above form.
