SEPTEMBER 27, 2006
The meeting of the Environmental Commission was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by John Brotherton, Chairman. The Opening Statement was made. Roll call was taken.

MINUTES
The Minutes of the meeting held on September 13, 2006 were accepted as submitted.
LAKE HENRY TRAIL – SIGN PROJECT
J. Brotherton reported that DPW has advised that the post installation will be done at 8:30 am on Saturday (9/30). The signs can be attached to the metal posts on Monday. A discussion took place on the height from the ground (3’ high at the middle of the mounting plate).
Don Wenger and John Spiech will install signs #1 and #2 in the wooden kiosk on Friday morning (9/29). John will measure the board and signs and get the right size screws.
David Daehnke, Susan Golz and Carol Phiefer will get together (possibly Thursday 10/5) to mark and install the tree identification signs.
All members are pleased with the signs. John Brotherton showed an advance copy of the fall township newsletter which features Susan’s article on the sign project and Jane’s photo on the front page.
Members discussed requesting funds in the 2007 budget for additional signs, such as birds, fish, food chain, poison ivy info, amphibians.
MAHWAH DAY
John Brotherton thanked everyone one for helping. All the tree seedlings were given out with planting instructions. (Discussed possible planting of trees at Mary Patrick property. Trees can be cheap if purchased from the State.)
Some residents signed up to help with World Water Monitoring Day on October 14th at Lake Henry.
SOIL MOVEMENT PERMIT APPLICATION

“The Environmental Commission reviewed these applications. Comments are listed below:
Albert Papanian, 137 Third Street Bl. 54, Lot 21, E-BD-216-2012, dated 9/21/06.
We note that four trees will be removed and there will be one (oak) replacement tree.
Approved.
Nagy Milik, 158 W. Crescent Avenue Bl. 152, Lot 9, E-BD-216-2011, dated 9/20/06.
We note that four trees will be removed and there will be one (oak) replacement tree.
Approved.
Nick Uzeiri, 5 Robin Road Bl. 120, Lot 78, E-BD-216-1972. Reviewed revised Tree Preservation Application. We note the change in the number of trees to be removed.
We request that the number of replacement trees be increased to six.
Jaclyn Elizabeth Enterprises, LLC, 97 Franklin Turnpike Bl. 70, Lot 41, 43, Dkt. 505S dated 9/15/06. Approved.” Both site plan and soil were approved.
SITE PLAN REVIEW
Dumpster Man, Dkt. 1184-06SP
Reviewed landscaping plan. Application approved.
NEW BUSINESS
Reviewed correspondence on Tom DeLoy’s request to build on Midvale Mountain Road information request from Highlands Council.
Reviewed Boswell’s letter of 7/26/06 re: DEP application for bank stabilization at bridge abutments (Lake Henry).
Susan Golz is helping with the water testing Hydroqual is organizing for World Water Monitoring Day on October 14th. Mahwah High School students will be participating. She will use our water testing equipment.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m. The next meeting of the Environmental Commission will take place on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 475 Corporate Drive, Mahwah, N.J.
