JOB SUMMARY

This person is responsible for designing, implementing,and driving cross-department adoption of a system for the organized storage and retrieval of all digital content, using SFS’s digital asset management platform. The symphony uses high-quality content to market and support delivery of its performances, to raise funds, to support public relations, and to provide educational services; in addition, the symphony generates rich content through the recording of its performances.

The Digital Asset Manager will work with all content producing departments to ensure timely, and systematic storage of all produced digital assets. This includes creating the right nomenclature, storage hierarchies and tagging in a system that will also display information about usage rights, permissions, and historical use.

In addition to organizing and storing current assets, the Digital Asset Manager will aid the ongoing production of new assets for campaigns by creating universal folders for assets that can be dynamically used across departments. He or she will be responsible for storing and ensuring socialization of all finalized digital assets and can be used cross-departmentally.

Finally, the Digital Asset Manager will be a part of SFS’s ongoing effort to digitally archive all historical media.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead overall strategy, implementation and workflow of the SFS Digital Asset Management system.
  • Workacross departments to centrally organize all digital assets for use across multiple channels and departments, including marketing, PR, development, and education.
  • Create nomenclature standards and storage hierarchies for stored digital assets.
  • Create system and rules for storing tagging and permissions-based retrieval of digital assets that are being produced in ongoing campaigns and projects.
  • Understand and enforce legal issues around asset use .
  • Assign appropriate metadata for assets to ensure accurate usage rights.
  • Manage the Digital Asset system and facilitate the uploading of assets.
  • Proactively assist with content creation efforts for different departments.Assist in retrieval of content and provide access to specific assets for delivery channels such as the website and lobby screens.
  • Generate asset download reports.
  • Maintain accurate procedures and records for the system.
  • Works closely with the Archives Department on formats, cataloguing, access, and preservation standards to successfully preserve both born digital and digitized objects over time.
  • Stay informed of latest Digital Asset Management technology trends and innovations.
  • Driveadoption of the system, by conducting DAM user training for internal and external resources.
  • Oversee system maintenance and upgrades.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Four-year college degree or equivalent experience required, with five years relevant experience in digital asset storage, information management, or archiving.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based digital asset management software such as Widen, OrangeLogic, PicturePark.
  • Able to manage digital media, including images, PDFs, audio and video.
  • Familiarity with video and audio file formats.
  • Experience with creating a metadata schema.
  • Strong organizational skills andmeticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience with asset storage and organization, creating naming and tagging systems for both digital and analog assets .

Preferred

  • Experience with a performing arts organization or multi-media publisher.
  • Experience with digitizing analog media.
  • Existing appreciation of classical music and willingness to learn more about it.
