VÖGELE VF 500 for VISION pavers.
New VÖGELE Screed with Front-Mounted Extensions
Stability and variability are not mutually exclusive, as the front-mounted Extending Screed from VÖGELE proves. This screed has been specially developed for VISION pavers and is the ideal tool for multivariable width applications like parking lots with multiple traffic islands and light poles, residential and city streets with storm sewers, gas and water mains, intersections on major highways and county roads with multiple obstructions.
The variability is also evidenced in the range of possible profiles:crown, transverse slope and berm are set once and thenbuilt perfectly from the start to the end of the paving process.Equipped with our robust and smooth telescoping system, the VF 500 Extending Screed builds road pavementsof highest quality and superb evenness. This makes it alsoideal for paving in mainline applications where smoothness and density are important.
High Precision Across the Full Paving Width
As with every Extending Screed from VÖGELE, the VF 500also has a particularly robust guide system. Thanks to its sturdy design, it features excellent stability, even if the paving width varies continually.
The L-shaped main frame is an important element inthis context. On the one hand, its high rigidity preventsthe screed from warping in a longitudinal or transversedirection. At the same time, it permits a controlledtorsion of the screed as required for certain paving tasks.
Yet the stable guidance of the extensions is always guaranteed, despite this permitted torsion. As the guide system is mountedon the screed at an outward position, the torsion of the mainframe is never transferred to the guide system.
A valuable practice-related feature of the innovative front-mountedscreed is the ability of moving the extensions in or out at different speeds as required. Pressing the button on theoperator’s ErgoPlus console very briefly permits particularlyprecise control, e.g. along an edge. The button must be pressedand held for more rapid extension or retraction. As a result, screed width control is performed with highest precision to obtain an absolutely straight pavement edge.
The powerful hydraulic system controls each extensionseparately, ensuring that ample power is always availableto move them as required.
The fact that the screed can be extended absolutely symmetricallyon both sides enhances variability on the job due to independencyof the paving direction.
Unbeatable Profile Variability
A wide range of pavement profiles are possible with thefront-mounted Extending Screed VF 500. The profile can be setindependently of the extensions’ adjustment in height, ensuring the greatest degree of variability. Slopes of up to10% are possible and there is no need to readjust the roadprofile at any time while paving.
The optional berm is available in three widths of 12, 18 or24 inches. Thanks to the smart design of the screed, the bermalso remains stable at all times. The zero-position is maintainedwithout a need to permanently apply pressure to the berm.Naturally, the screed can be fitted for various different bermwidths on the right and left hand side. Contractors can choosefreely when placing their orders.Every extension has its own adjusting mechanisms for theindependent setting of height, slope and angle of attack. The angle of attack of each screed extension is very easyto set even with bolt-on extensions fitted. Not only is thebullnose of the screed plate raised during the adjustmentprocess, but the entire frame of the screed plate is pivotedaround a defined point – a special feature of the VF 500 Extending Screed from VÖGELE.
Innovative Screed Heating System
Over decades, VÖGELE has gained a wealth of experiencein electric screed heating, which has been installed inall screeds since 1952. It is the combination of manyyears’ experience and continuous further developmentthat resulted in the innovative heating system for ourscreeds. Electric heating provides that the screed platesare heated to an ideal temperature for paving. Whilepaving, the heat output is controlled automatically.
Easy Operation, Excellent View
The VÖGELE VF 500 Extending Screed is extremely easy to operate thanks ErgoPlus. Both the paver operator’s and the screed operators’workstations are ergonomically designed. Theheight and angle of the screed console can beadjusted. It can also be turned to select the idealworking position. All functions arelogically arranged on the console. An additionalremote control is provided. What’s more, the compactdesign of the screed ensures that the operatoralways has an optimum view of the material flow –including augers, bolt-on extensions and end gates.
