A day to reflect, celebrate and thank God for the mission and ministry of the United College of the Ascension, Selly Oak, Birmingham,

In this our final year, we warmly welcome friends, neighbours and all whose lives have been touched by the College to make a special effort to visit us on Ascension Day 2006.

From 10.30am-4.00pm, please join us for

  • A fascinating exhibition of photos, books, archive materials and displays highlighting the inspiring history of mission education and training in Selly Oak, Kingsmead and UCA, up to the present day
  • A chance to meet personnel from UCA sponsoring bodies; the United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel and the Methodist Church, and to learn more about their current plans, global mission partnerships, networks and initiatives
  • Latest news and information about UCA’s successor; the new Selly Oak Centre for Mission Studies, opening within the Queens Foundation for Theological Education from September 2006, and the opportunity to learn more about Queens in general
  • Other mission focussed stalls and exhibits, including the Experience Exchange Programme and the British and Irish Association of Mission Studies.
  • Time to pray, reflect, at this time of mixed emotions, in UCA’s much loved College Chapel, which will be open throughout the day, and to leave your personal message in the UCA Book of Memories

The offertory at the Eucharist will be given to the new Mission Centre and used to support international partners in their studies

St Mary’s Church is located at the end of a driveway accessed from the city-bound carriageway of the main A38 Bristol Road, on the Southern side of Selly Oak. The church’s postcode is B29 6ND.

Bus stops are located on the main road close to the Church Drive, and Selly Oak railway station is about 10 minutes walk from the Church. There is a small amount of car parking in the Church drive but, visitors are asked to be courteous to neighbours. Cars can also be parked in Lodge Hill Road at the rear of the Church.
