A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of Mitzi Tate Strode.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Mitzi Tate Strode, and we pause in silent reverence for her soul.

WHEREAS, Mitzi Tate Strode was born on November 14, 1948, a native of Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky, and she traversed these earthly bounds on March 1, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mitzi Tate Strode was the loving daughter of the late C. J. and Mary Tate, and she also was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Thomas B. Strode and Robert W. Dodd; she was the devoted wife of James C. Strode, the loving mother of a daughter, Meredith Tate Strode, and the loving sister of Abbe Tate Dodd, all of Lexington; she was the adored aunt of Mitzi Tate Fugate and her husband, Robert Fugate, and their children, Dawson, Davis, Clay, and Tate Fugate, all of Bardwell; and she also leaves behind a loving brother-in-law, Richard F. Strode, and his wife, Caryl, of Lexington, and a loving sister-in-law, Robin Miller of Frankfort; and

WHEREAS, Mitzi Tate Strode was a devout member of Christ Church Cathedral, where she participated on the Altar Guild, she co-chaired the Flower Guild, she graduated from Education for Ministry, and she was a Leader in Bible Study Fellowship; and

WHEREAS, Mitzi Tate Strode was an esteemed member of the Fayette County community, where she served on the board of Chrysalis House; she served on the board of the Living Arts and Science Center, where she also co-chaired the Three Day Event Program Ads and Sales; she served on the Blue Grass Charity Ball board and committee, where she also served as chairman and president; and she was a member of the Lexington Ball Program committee; she was a strong advocate of children and served on the board of Baby Health Services, she worked as a Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteer, and she was a member of the Lexington School Parents' Association committee; and she also was founder of Common Cents Investment Club, she was a master gardener, and she was a member of Idle Hour Country Club; and

WHEREAS, a life spent worthily should be measured by deeds, not years, and through her compassion, enthusiasm, and genuine love and concern for her fellow man, Mitzi Tate Strode is worthy of the highest commendation; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Mitzi Tate Strode has left a void that cannot be filled, and she is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Mitzi Tate Strode, and extends to her family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Mitzi Tate Strode.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mr. James C. Strode, 829 East Main Street, Lexington, Kentucky 40502.
