Call to Order: Stacy Slattery called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m.,

Old Business:

December 6, 2016 minutes were distributed several weeks ago.No questions were raised.

Action: Sandra Cashenmoved to approve the December minutes;Therese Patekseconded. Motion passed.

New Business:

Student Report

Jackson Centeno (Student Representative): noted that three big projects were underway:

  1. Prom – April 29, 7:30 -!0:30. Will need approximately 10 parent volunteers to take down.
  2. February 24 – Winter assembly – to occur prior to Sadie Hawkins dance on Feb 25.
  3. Carlton Tribute game on Jan 20. Pizza and t-shirts to be made available.

Principal’s Report

Robb Thompson (Principal): Much of recent activities was overshadowed by weather situation and passing of Keith Carlson. It is a difficult time for all. Scott Looney will be taking over his classes for this year. Noted that the Tribute game would be good opportunity to pay respects. Over 500 t-shirts made with “Brave to the Grave” logo.

Faculty Report

Cindy Hartley (Faculty Representative):

Cindy reported that Amber Tetrick expressed her appreciation for the staff luncheons, and also is in charge of the “Be the Change” summit on March 22. May want BBP to help sponsor keynote speaker. Kim Brydges reported that on January 13, the Braves hosted the Columbia Wildcats for the 9th annual “Pink Zone” event, which raises funds and awareness around breast cancer. $3,196 was raised for the Boise Chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Treasurer’s Report

Aliess Robison (Treasurer): Please see the attached Braves Financial Report. Aliess reported that grant funds were withdrawn from the BBP account and placed in the teachers’ accounts. Also noted the procedure to be used for gala expenses. If purchasing out of personal account, the original receipt is required, with all receipts going to Rhoda.

Action: Lisa Hausermoved to accept the Financial Report;Joan Wongseconded. Motion passed.

Committee Reports:

Rhoda Brunelli (Gala Chair): Noted that ticket sales are up and running. Still in need of donations. Plans to do Wine Auction. Needs 50 bottles of wine at minimum $20 value, to be sold for $25. Mr. Thompson indicated that the faculty could come up with 30 bottles, and the BBP should be able to match that gift.

Julie Manning (BEN Chair): It was noted that the BBP funded half of the BEN request in the fall. They were to report back on what was accomplished first semester. Julie would like to invite them to the February meeting.

Stacy Slattery (Bond Committee Chair):Stacy reported that it is only 8 weeks until the bond election. Thanks to Aliess and Tina for speaking at holiday concerts. There is a possibility that similar efforts can be made at a few varsity games, as well as the February 7 incoming freshmen event. Sign-up sheet was provided for January 28 phone bank/canvass opportunity. Each PTO has been challenged to contribute to the Friends of Boise Schools to assist the bond effort. Aliess suggested that BHS can contribute $2,000, out of the membership dues account.

Action: Vicky Swerdloff moved to donate $2,000 from membership dues account to the Friends of Boise Schools to assist with the bond effort; Aliess Robison seconded. Motion passed.
