CX/KA 100% ET Policy (Last updated on 07th April 2008)

Current Status (as of 28 Mar 2008) / As at 1 Jun 2008
1. / Paper Ticket Acceptance /
  • All kinds of tickets
/
  • CX will still accept paper ticket after 31 May 2008 according to the applicable conditions as stated on tickets. However, neutral paper ticket stock should all be retrieved by local BSP and should not be used for ticket issuance at agency locations.
  • As BSP will not distribute any neutral paper ticket after 31 May 2008, hence, all the neutral paper tickets issued after 31May 2008 should be denied from acceptance at airport. All CX/KA local offices should inform local BSP and appointed travel agents about this policy in writing. (BSP neutral paper ticket sample refers Appendix 1)
  • Paper tickets issued on/before 31 May 2008 travelling on/after 1 Jun 2008 by travel agents or interlines will be accepted according to the conditions as stated on tickets.
  • ARC paper tickets will not be subject to the 31 May 2008 deadline and will continue to be used in the ARC markets. These ARC paper tickets will be accepted as usual regardless of the date of issue. (ARC paper ticket sample refers Appendix 2)
  • For ports who have distributed ARO paper ticket stock to travel agent, you should discontinue the practice and retrieve the remaining paper ticket stock from the travel agent. Please contact Manager Sales and Distribution Tom Owen for exceptional consideration.
  • For IET carriers – Tickets must be issued as ET for ET eligible sectors on/after 1 Jun 2008.
  • For ITA carriers with whom IET has not been activated, paper ticket issued by interline ARO offices will be accepted until full IET is implemented.
  • Limited paper ticket stock will still be made available for all CX/KA ARO offices. However, we should limit the usage of paper stock as Interlines will gradually stop accepting paper tickets.

2. / Non ET Ports /
  • BKI, PNH and KTM are currently non-ET ports.
/
  • All ports will be made ET / manual ET available.

3. / Booking Changes /
  • For 160/043 host tickets with pure CX and/or KA segments, auto revalidation will be taken place if book and cancel under the same transaction on identical class code and sector, where ET record will be updated with the newly booked flight details alongside the SSR TKNE update in CUPID booking.
  • For booking changes other than above on 160/043 host tickets, e.g. routing change, class change, name correction etc., ticket is required to be reissued.
  • All booking changes, either on CX/KA segment or interline segment, made to other airline tickets, reissue is a must to ensure synchronization between different interline systems.
/
  • According to IATA standard, reissue is the recommended practice for booking changes. CX/KA will gradually move to this direction.

4. / Whenever A Reissue is Required /
  • For PUB fares tickets, reissue can be done by travel agents. However, local offices are required to impose policy to ensure revenue protection is covered. E.g. ensuring collection of rebooking fees where applicable.
  • For PAB fares tickets, reissue must be taken place within CX/KA office subject to applicable fare conditions.
/
  • Status quo.

5. / Ticket Endorsement /
  • Physical endorsement applies to paper tickets.
  • Virtual endorsement (by means of >UET entry in CUPID) applies to ET which enables coupon control be obtainable by carrier that is endorsed to. (CUPID Advice “GI:CPD-ADV05/NBR014” and “GI:CPD-ADV05/NBR025” refers.)
/
  • Status quo.

6. / Infant ET /
  • CX/KA has implemented infant ET in ARO, GDS and gradually activates IET with IET partners on bilateral basis.
  • Infant ET must be recently issued together with the adult ticket at CX/KA ARO. Development is in progress to enable option for infant ET to be issued together with or in a separate transaction from the adult ticket. Target implementation in early May.
/
  • Full compliance expected, except for those IET partners that do not support infant ET.
  • Paper tickets required to be issued by ARO office for these exceptions.

7. / ET of >16 Coupons /
  • Alignment is in progress.
/
  • All ET issued will be scoped to 16 segments in maximum.

8. / OPEN Dated ET /
  • At least one CX/KA segment must be booked (can be confirmed or waitlisted) in an itinerary, preferably the first segment of the itinerary, others can be open-dated. All interline segments must be booked.
/
  • Status quo.

9. / EXST / CBBG /
  • Issued with paper ticket. Check-in system alignment for ET acceptance is in progress.
/
  • Status quo with paper ticket for EXST/CBBG until system is made compatible.

10. / Rail ET /
  • Development work started with Deutsche Bahn; Discussion is ongoing with SNCF.
/
  • Targeting at full Rail ET.

11. / Using CX/KA ET Stock for Pure Interline Segment /
  • All newly issued BSP ET should consist of a CX/KA segment. Reissuance of partially used ticket without a CX/KA segment is currently not supported and will be developed.
  • ET without a CX/KA segment is allowed at CX/KA ARO.
/
  • Systems will be enabled for reissuance on partially used ticket without a CX/KA segment. Target ready in 3Q/08.

12. / IET Eligibility /
  • IET is available for interline flights that are filed as ET eligible, and with IET implemented with CX/KA.
  • For code-sharing service, IET must be effectively in place between the validating carrier and both the marketing and operating carrier.
/
  • Status quo. Journey with mixed IET and non-IET carriers will need to be issued separately if fare is allowed for separate tickets. Otherwise, ARO paper ticket stock could be used

13. / GDS Passive Booking /
  • ET issuance is supported for passive booking in GDS in selected markets.
/
  • Status quo. Policy review will be considered subject to market situation. Individual market will be informed for any change.

14. / SATA Student Booking /
  • IET development is in progress with STA.
/
  • IET implemented.

15. / VMPD (Virtual Multi Purpose Document), Paper MPD and EMD (Electronic Miscellaneous Document) /
  • VMPD implementation is subject to individual local market situation.
  • Paper MPD is still being used in markets where they are distributed.
  • EMD is the ultimate solution of which development is in scoping phase by the industry, including airlines and GDS.
/
  • The policy for each market could be different. In general:
  • CX/KA prefers paper manual MPD if it is provided by local BSP.
  • VMPD will be applied until EMD is to be developed and adopted. However, the usage on VMPD will be restricted. Details to be advised.
  • Auto MCO printed on plain paper or blank form will be adopted in selected markets where VMPD is deemed not practical.
  • Detailed policy on VMPD acceptance will be distributed in mid April.

Note: Latest policy and status of IET implementation is available in IntraCX under: Sales and Marketing\Distribution Channel\E-ticketing
