AHOUSE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE COURAGEOUS AND SELFLESS FIREFIGHTERS OF THE SENECA FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR THEIR COMPASSIONATE AND PROFICIENT EXECUTION OF THEIR DUTIES.
Whereas, a passerby on U.S. 123 spotted a fire at the Seneca Mortuary and placed a 911 call, and firefighters were dispatched to the scene; and
Whereas, when the firefighters of the Seneca Fire Department received a call on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at approximately 3:00 in the morning, they responded out of inborn duty and with trained skill; and
Whereas, going beyond the expectation for professionalism, the Seneca Fire Department responded to the fire, showing exceptional compassion for the Sandifer family who had suffered the devastating loss of the family’s former mortuary business; and
Whereas, although the building was destroyed by the blaze, the dedicated professionals of the Seneca Fire Department provided extraordinary comfort in the midst of the family’s tragedy; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the skilled professionals and volunteers who comprise the Seneca Fire Department and for the compassion and concern with which they fulfill their responsibilities. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend the courageous and selfless firefighters of the Seneca Fire Department for the compassionate and proficient execution of their duties.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Chief Shane Phillips of the Seneca Fire Department.
