FUNSHINE OUT OF SCHOOL CLUB

Parent Policy

We welcome you and your children to Funshine Club and hope that our relationship will be a very positive one. We feel strongly that open communication between parents and staff members is essential to fully meeting your children’s needs. Here we attempt to clearly define our policies in some most common areas.

Non-discrimination

No person shall, on the basis of race, colour, religious belief, national origin, disability or gender, be denied the benefits of, or activities of Funshine Club.

Communication between our staff members and parents is a vital link in the growth of your children. We are entirely dedicated to the belief that your children is the hope of our future and deserve to become an outstanding citizen’s of tomorrow.

Child Protection

Confidentiality with parents is maintained at all times, however, if a member of staff is concerned for a child’s safety or well being, our Child Protection Policy would over ride any other policy.

Current information

It is necessary that the information on the enrolment record stays current. Please let us know if there are any changes in phone numbers, addresses or people authorised to pick up your child, details that we need to contact you in case of emergency. You will be required to update these records annually in July or when any other changes occur.

Other people picking up your child

If someone other than a parent or registered second pick up, will be picking up your child, the staff will need to be notified prior to them being picked up, either via Funshine Club staff, a signed letter or verbal message to the school office along with the password you have given on the annual registration form. They will also need to sign your child out.

Non attendance

If your child/ren will not be attending breakfast or after school club due to sickness, holidays, going to a friends house, etc… you need to inform us prior to the session they are due to attend. In the case of a breakfast club session, you can either leave a message on our club mobile phone and we will pick up your message from 7.30am, or the school office is usually contactable between the hours of 8.00am – 4.00pm. All sessions booked for, if not attended will still have to be paid for but if you wish to drop any sessions this can be done by giving a half terms notice, extra sessions can also be requested and the place confirmed subject to availability on our waiting list.

Booking forms

Will be handed out every year to children enrolled in club and club require them to be returned and then filled for the purposes of administration and insurance. If you change your sessions then a new booking form will need to be filled.

Parent skills / expertise

Parents volunteering their expertise for an activity at club are very welcome and must hold a valid CRB / DBS check.

Parent Grievance Procedure

If you as a parent, have a grievance or concern , we hope that you can talk to us in the first instance but if you wish you can make a written grievance on our complaints sheets located in club (ask a member of staff or you can find copies hanging on the wall just above where the register is kept.

Personal belongings

Children are required to leave toys, food, gum, pets and money at home. The equipment and materials at club are shared by all of the children as part of the learning experience. If children unknown to parents, bring toys, etc. in from home, they do at their own risk – we can not be held responsible.

Clothing

Children will obviously attend club in their school uniform and for any painting and wet play activities, we will supply them with overalls/shirts/t-shirts but we can not guarantee that they will be spotless when they leave.

Closing due to snow and severe weather / circumstances

If school is closed due to the above, club will also be closed and this will be notified via radio broadcast on BRMB/WM.

Notice Period

For the safety and well being of our club environment , members and staff, we reserve the right to dis-enrol families for the following reasons:

  • repeated disregard for closing times;
  • chronic late payment, no payment or returned cheques;
  • physical or verbal abuse of staff or children;
  • persistent unacceptable behaviour;
