How to: UDL Exchange

1. Optional: watch the CAST UDL Exchange video on the Home page

2. Create an account: On right side of the page, click ‘Create an Account’ (*note: if you already have a UDL Book Builder account, you can skip this step and use the same username/password!)

a. Fill in the required fields

b. Type the confirmation code

c. You will be sent a confirmation email

d. This account also can be used for other CAST tools:

i. UDL Book Builder

ii. UDL Curriculum Self-Check

iii. UDL Studio

3. You can return to the Home page of UDL Exchange and sign in, once you receive a confirmation email.

4. Notice there are 3 types of materials, i.e. Lessons, Resources, Collections. You have the option to browse or build within each material type.

5. There are 3 launch tabs at the top of the page: Browse, Build, and Featured Guide.

In the Browse section, you can filter your search by title, author, or description and/or narrow your search by content area, grade, Common Core State Standard, media type, or purpose.

On the right of each item, you will see some icon options:

- The ‘+’ icon allows you to add the item to one of your collections or lessons

- The ‘arrow’ icon allows you to take the item and ‘remix’ it to fit your need (and original author credit will stay)

- The ‘thumbs up’ icon allows you to recommend the item to an individual or to the public

- The ‘heart’ icon allows you to indicate it is a favorite of yours

- The ‘star’ icon is a CAST featured

In the Build section, you can view Lessons, Resources, or Collections “CREATED BY ME” or “SHARED WITH ME”, you can filter your search and you can create a new lesson, resource, or collection.

In the Featured Guide section, you are given information to get started and learn how to use UDL Exchange most effectively.
