Greenfield High School 2015 Fall Sports Preview
Boys Soccer – by Head Coach Matt Ortloff
The Boys Soccer team had a successful season last year finishing with an overall winning record, but also graduated eight out of eleven starting players. The 2015 team will be rebuilding and looking to gain experience with the help of new varsity assistant coach Rob Blake and new JV coach Scott Dombrowski. The team's mission: play hard, play smart, play together.
Girls Tennis– byHead Coach Susan Swaer
We are excited to announce the start of the High School Girl's Tennis Season! It is going to be a very successful season due to the fact that we have many returning JV and Varsity members. We participated in our first tournament in South Milwaukee on August 19th. Our home opener is scheduled for September 8 starting at 4:00 pm. Come and cheer us on to victory!
Varsity Football- by Head Coach Joe Koch
The Hustlin’ Hawks Football Team will be very young with only 12 seniors returning. There will be a lot of competition for starting positions from younger players. The Hawks return only two starters from offense and 5 from defense. All-conference returning senior lineman Sharan Singh and junior running back Zeke Banks will anchor the offense. On defense returning all-conference players include: senior Tre’ Vaughn Craig (defensive back), senior Shomari Banks (defensive line), junior Donovan Reasby (defensive back) and junior Elijah Valero (inside linebacker) will anchor the defense. Other key returning winners include: Zach DeSmet (defensive line), junior Mike Zamora (outside linebacker), junior Taylor Martin (offensive line) and senior Abram Vizcarra (defensive back). The Hawks will attempt to continue with the two platoon system as players develop through the season. Early, some athletes may play on both sides of the ball.
To have a great season; senior leadership, team character and athlete development will be crucial. Coaches and players will have to put TEAM first and have a mindset of improving every day with fundamentals. Our team goal will be to “Win the next game” and our vision is to “Win the last game.”
Cross Country - by Coach Ernie Rosenthal
The Greenfield Hawks 2015 XC Season started on August 17th. The first XC meet is on Thursday, August 27th, hosted by Kettle Moraine Lutheran in Jackson. The XC team participates in 9 meets during the season, finishing up with a meet on Saturday, October 31, at Brookfield, with a chance to go to STATE. The team will have about 50 runners(combination of boys and girls) and there are a number of returning lettermen, so the team should do very well this year.

The Greenfield Hawks Girls Volleyball team is looking at another solid season. There is a solid group of returning players in the line-up, including the Conference Player of the Year Angela Deubig, 1st team All- Conference player Elizabeth Kalous and Honorable Mention All-Conference Gabby Strasser. The team is looking to win its 5th straight division title.
Girls Swim– by Head Coach Dale Schrank
The Girls' Swim team is eagerly looking forward to the start of this season. With the infusion of a number of new freshman from both Pius and the Greenfield Middle School, Coach Schrank and the rest of the staff are really looking forward to getting into the pool. After finishing 10th in the Conference last year, Schrank is very confident to be in the top third this season with a really good chance to advance a number of swimmers, and possibly a couple of relays to the State meet. Good luck swimmers!!!!
Boys Volleyball- by Head Coach Kurt Kaempfer
Boys volleyball will be coached by 15th-year head coach Kurt Kaempfer and 3rd year junior-varsity coach Matt Maciejewski. We anticipate returning 9 players to the varsity squad and 5 to the junior-varsity squad. We are happy to say that we will have a large number of freshmen joining the team from Whitnall and Greenfield. We look to be competitive at both levels in the Woodland Conference.
Good luck to all our coaches and athletes on a successful season in each of their respective sports!
GO HAWKS!
