The board meeting of the A.V. Baucom Elementary School PTA was held on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 at 6:00 PM at Baucom Elementary. Gayle Yates President, presided.
Attending were: (see attached attendance sheet)
Call to order: The meeting was called to order on Sept. 12, 2017 at 6:02 PM.
Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the May 9, 2017 PTA Board meeting were presented. A motion was made to approve the minutes, which was seconded. After a unanimous vote by the members, May 2017 minutes were approved.
Treasurer's Reports: Naomi Wretham (see attachment) – Income as of 9/12/2017 is $53,268.85 and expenses $43,048.35.
Request to approve 2017 / 2018 motion made, which was seconded. After a unanimous vote by the members, 2017/ 2018 budget was approved.

Welcome back: Focus for 2017 /2018 will be on Social / Emotional Learning
In 2017 end of year scores increased to approximately 80%
Clubs: Encouraging all students to participate
Lock Down of school. Thank PTA for 2 extra cameras. Established buddy system with at least 2 students walking halls. Thank you to Valarie
Modeling Instruction – Document Camera (Elmo). Teachers will be requesting grants to obtain. Students may bring home papers from teacher.
Green House: Mr. Stack is submitting a grant to start a greenhouse at the school. ASK: Help from PTA to support participating in sales
BYOD: Bring your own device (toys to tools). Not all grades will participate. Meeting next Wednesday at 6 PM with Chris Wasko from WCPS
Science Olympiad – first year. Encouraging participation
Science Fair – 5th grade students to submit projects
Cultural Night- opportunity for teachers to give back to PTA. Teachers are working with classes to put together. Target 3rd week in January, 2018

Transportation – rule changes with tags for the bus riders using color coding. Red signifies K – 1. Yellow for upper grades. Considering scanning
New Mobile App (Where is Bus) – testing in year-round schools. Tracking by child student identification
