Semester Project 3: Journals and Picture dictionary (# 1)
Goal of this project: The purpose of this project is to improve upon our organizational skills, understanding of historical information, writing skills, and test preparedness.
Part 1 Journal Entries: You will create a journal entry for 4 of the lessons that we are going over this cycle. Journal entries must be in summary form, a.k.a paragraphs. The journal entries can be for any lessons that you choose up to the due date. It is important that you write these journal entries while the lesson is still fresh in your mind. These journals can be started in class when time is allotted, although they need to be typed, and put together in the correct order.
Format for journal entries: (each journal entry should be in the following format)
Aim: Write the question/ Aim of that lesson
Focus topic: Write the topic
Date: Write the date that we went over the topic
Objective Questions: Write the objective questions from that lesson
Key words: list all of the key/vocabulary words from the lesson
Journal Response: (See journal questions below, each journal response should be 7-8 sentences long)
For the journal response you must answer the following questions:
What you thought about the topic? (your opinion)
Did you like or dislike the group activity that we did? Explain (if applicable, when there was no group work it is not necessary to write that there was no group work just leave this out)
What was the main idea of the topic?
An answer to at least one of the goal/objective questions for this lesson?
And an answer to the aim for this lesson (**more than just yes or no)
Part 2 Picture Dictionary Collage: You will need to create a dictionary collage using of the words from the vocabulary list. A definition must be provided for each of the words along with a picture that matches the meaning of the word. Put the collage on computer paper it may be created on the computer, or by cutting and pasting images. Try to use as few pages as possible (around 2 pages with 5 words and 5 pictures on each page is ideal/best) ** if you are an art major see us about other options for part 2.

Part 3 Project organization: The project is a long term assignment, meaning you have more than one, or even two weeks to do the project. This means expectations for the project are held at a high standard.

-Each word is worth 4 points
-Pictures can but don’t have to be drawn
-for art students only (pictures clearly show planning, connect the word to the image, use one whole page per word and image, use the whole page) / ______/ 40

DEDUCTIONS: additional deductions may be taken off if the project is more than one week late -2pts per day. If the project is not handed in on time, but is less than one week late the points will be removed from the project organization section.
