Describe the background and rationale for this project. / Get Fruved is a USDA-funded, multi-state, intervention promoting healthy lifestyles among older adolescents. Get Fruved uses a CBPR-approach to implement social marketing messages and promote environmental change with the goal of increasing fruit and vegetable consumption, increasing physical activity and promoting stress management skills among participants. We are currently in year 03 of the intervention at the college level and will be planning the roll-down of the intervention to the high school level which will occur during the 2017-2018 academic school year.

What is the significance of this project and its outcome(s) to practice or research? / This project will contribute understanding of how a student-created, social- marketing campaign with environmental supports for healthy eating, physical activity and stress management contribute to healthy behavior change among older adolescents. The project will also test for the effect of peer mentoring on supporting and promoting health behaviors.

What knowledge and/or skills are you looking for in a student? / We are looking for students with great interpersonal skills and flexibility. Willing to jump into new situations and adapt to change easily. Organization and planning skills are a plus. We are looking for students with a good understanding of behavior change theories and/or survey development. There is a large variety of data on various topics that students will have access to from a national sample of undergraduate students. We will provide training for all physical assessments which will be conducting in the spring including: height, weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, neck circumference, etc. We are also interested in students with interest in social marketing and community based research.
