CLASS TITLE:ARCHITECT SUPERVISOR - SES

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is work supervising Architects, Senior Architects and/or other projects staff. The primary duty of the employee(s) in the position(s) allocated to this class is to spend a major portion of the time communicating with, motivating, training and evaluating employees, planning and directing their work; and having the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward or discipline subordinate employees or to effectively recommend such actions.

  • Motivates employees to improve the quality and quantity of work performed.
  • Plans work loads, work flows, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with employees.
  • Evaluates employees through establishing evaluation criteria and responsibilities and meeting regularly with employees to ensure the established criteria are met.
  • Trains employees in methods for performing an effective and efficient job.
  • Communicates on a regular basis with employees both individually and in staff meetings.
  • Directs the work of employees to ensure best use of time and resources.
  • Reviews fixed capital outlay projects to ensure that the project plans are complete and can be given to an architectural/engineering firm.
  • Negotiates projects with architectural firms commissioned to prepare plans for buildings and construction.
  • Reviews and updates applicable building codes.
  • Provides advice and consultation to clients on architectural planning and services.
  • Plans, organizes and directs the work of architectural staff in reviewing plans and making final inspections of facilities for compliance with codes and requirements.
  • Reviews proposed facilities construction projects including checking plans, inspecting construction projects for compliance with plans and/or building codes and state regulations, and participates in final inspections of facilities after construction is completed.
  • Supervises the analysis of facility plans, specifications and change orders for compliance with state regulations.
  • Inspects completed facilities for conformance with contracts.
  • Directs the preparation of architectural designs, cost estimates, working specifications, and renovation plans.
  • Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registration as an Architect in accordance with Chapter 481, Florida Statutes, and four years of post registration experience as an architect.
