Dear Hilldale Parents/Guardians,

The Hilldale Parent Teacher Council (HPTC) Executive Board would like to extend a warm welcome to our new principal, Jill Cisneros, secretary, Irene Repola, and to all the families who are new to Hilldale. Welcome back to the students, parents, and staff members.

We have attached a list of board members and committee heads to help you get to know the HPTC and the events and programs we offer. We are planning another exciting year of activities and fundraisers that enable us to support the Hilldale students and faculty.

The Lunch Program will begin on Monday, September 30th.The on-line lunch ordering for Sept/Oct/Nov will be available online from September 3rd– September 13th. Go to select Hilldale School, click the PTC tab and look for the lunch form link. For more information, please see the attached hot lunch notice.

Below is a schedule of upcoming events and dates to remember in September. You will also find forms to complete and return to school. Please complete the attached forms and send them back to school by Tuesday, September 17th.

All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend our HPTC meetings. The first meeting will be on Wednesday, September 25th at 7:30pm in the Hilldale Media Center. We look forward to seeing you there!

**Lunch Form Notice**

The PTC organizes the Hilldale hot lunch program. Local vendors provide hot lunch that the PTC plans for the year. There are 3 lunch cycles (Sept/Oct/Nov; Dec/Jan/Feb; March/April/May). Please pay attention to order deadlines, as we need to complete our process. If you miss a particular deadline, you will NOT have an opportunity to order lunch for that cycle. Unfortunately, there are NO EXCEPTIONS. All future notifications to order the hot lunches will be sent via email only!

The on-line lunch ordering for Sept/Oct/Nov will be available online from September 3rd through September 13th .

  • Make sure your child’s grade and teacher is updated before you begin the ordering processOnce you log in, go to Profile first. Look in the student section and under Grade and Classroom make the changes.
  • Make sure to put last name and first name in the correct spot
  • Send check payable to HPTC or cash in an envelope marked “Hot Lunch” with your child’s name and class.
  • Payments are due no later than Sept. 16th
  • DO NOT send in forms with your payment. Once your payment is confirmed, please print your child's tickets so we can serve everyone faster.

You will only need to fill out your child’s name/teacher one time and the form will calculate the amount for you. You will need to fill out one form per child, but may still write one check per family. Lunch orders must be ordered on line by Friday, September 13th and the payment by September 16th – No Exceptions!

The HPTC is planning many enriching programs throughout the school year. Your support is needed and greatly appreciated. The HPTC requests that you become a member for the 2013-2014 school year. Membership dues of $10.00 per family will assist us in coordinating this year’s programs. Your membership also entitles your family to one Buzz Book.

The Hilldale Buzz Book is a listing of Hilldale families that have joined the PTC. Addresses, emails, phone numbers and the student’s grade/teacher are listed in the book. It is distributed to all Hilldale families that have paid their Hilldale PTC membership dues.

The Hilldale PTC will be utilizing e-mail as its main source of disseminating information. If you successfully received this notice via e-mail and would not like to add/change/delete any information then you can skip to the next page. Otherwise, please see below.

CLASS PARENT

Becoming a Class Parent is a great way to participate with your children in some of their happiest times at Hilldale. Responsibilities of the Class Parent include planning and attending the three class parties.

Since being a Class Parent is a commitment, it is important that you thoroughly read the Class Parent Requirements below. All parents will be randomly selected from a pool of interested parents. We will meet for our Class Parent Meeting on September 30th at 2:20pm. You will be notified before the meeting if you have been selected.

If you would like to volunteer to be a class parent, fill out the form below and return it in an envelope marked “Welcome Forms” by Tuesday, September 17th. Please provide your 1st or 2nd choice if you have more than one child. Any questions, please contact Maryrose Neri () or Faith Sussman ().

Class Parent Requirements

  1. 3 class parents for classes under 18.

4 class parents for classes 18 and over.

  1. Class parents must be present for three parties–Halloween 10/31, Holiday 12/19 & End of the Year (K & Gr. 5 on 6/17, Grades 1, 2, 3 & 4 on 6/18)
  1. Class parents must help prepare the Fun Fair booth and participate on 5/2
  1. Class parents must send at least one class parent per classroom to each of the PTC meetings. (Total of 5 meetings throughout the year to be divided by the class parents)
  1. Minimum one class parent on class trips. The teacher will randomly select other class parents, including non-class parents, interested in chaperoning.

Throughout the school year, the class moms will plan three exciting parties: a Halloween, a Holiday and an End of the Year party.

Although the class moms may call on the parents for donations of food or paper goods, there are several other expenses associated with the parties that make them really enjoyable for the kids such as giveaways and crafts. To help cover these costs, we are collecting $10 per child.

Hilldale Car Pool Rules

Please help to keep our children safe and respect the families of Hilldale School.

  1. Parking is prohibited at all times along the yellow painted curb.
  1. When you pull up to the curb, let the children out of the car. Please do not wait for the first spot. Children may exit the car anywhere along the sidewalk up until the dumpster.
  1. Please do not let children out of your car on the driver’s side. The driver may not exit the car to retrieve items from the trunk or to assist children in exiting. The safety patrol will help students.
  1. Do not let children out of your car in the parking lot unless you are parked in a spot.
  1. Do not park on both sides of the driveway. You may only park on the grassyside of the driveway. Driveways must be kept clear in case of an emergency.
  1. Do not use a hand held cell phone when driving on school property. Your full attention should be on your surroundings.
  1. The speed limit is5 mphon school grounds, both in the driveway and the parking lot.
  1. If you choose to get out of the car to pick up your child at dismissal, please do not block the school exit or walkway. Stand to the side of the walkways so children may exit.

Volunteers make the difference at Hilldale. Please review this committee list and check off all those that interest you. Many of these jobs only require a small time commitment. Please note that Class Parent has a separate form.

_____ HARVEST FESTIVAL – Autumn and Halloween activities to take place on Oct. 18th.

_____HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE - Help children for approximately 2 hours to shop and wrap their holiday gifts. Held during school hours in November.

_____HOSPITALITY - Bakers and servers needed for special events (PTC meetings, Special Friends, Teacher Apreciaition, etc.).

_____HOT LUNCHES - Servers are needed for approximately 2 hours once every 5 weeks.

_____ K-4 YEARBOOK – Assist with taking photos of various school activities including Game Show Days, Harvest Festival, Chinese New Year, Michele Sullivan game, etc.

_____ KINDERGARTEN SCREENING – Assist incoming children and parents with the screening process and school tour in April.
