Background Information

Studies have shown that as many as 30-60% of healthcare providers meet the criteria for burnout. Burnout contributes to poor quality of life for healthcare professionals who are experiencing it. In addition, quality of care and patient safety can be negatively impacted by stress and burnout. LAMMICO’s online educational activity offers strategies to reduce burnout and promote provider well-being.

LAMMICO’s learning management systemincludes an assessment of learner burnout and an educational videooffered free of charge to Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi hospitals and facilities. The Nurse Burnout Learner Assessment provides insight into the individual’s level of stress and burnout, and the Nurse Well-being: The Burnout Dilemma video examines the incidence and impact of nurse burnout. Rather than treating burnout as a problem to be solved, this presentation discusses burnout as an ongoingsituation with multiple contributing factors. The activity conveys various strategies that can help individuals and facilities create meaningful ways to manage and reduce the persistent epidemic of burnout.

To access the learner assessment and videoplease contact LAMMICO’s Hospital Risk Management Specialist, Lynne Vega, BSN, RN at or 504.841.273.
