Innovation Center Marketing, Advertising, & Event Planning Intern
As the epicenter of innovation and entrepreneurship on campus, theWond’ry at Vanderbilt University ( is seeking 1-2 professional, energetic, and engagingGraduate Student Candidate Intern(s)to join as a key member(s) ofourinaugural team to assist with marketing, advertising, and event planning and hostingof a diverse array of programs and activities at our newly opened Center. Reporting to the Program Manager and Program Coordinator as well as the Executive Director, this Intern(s) will be a very valued member(s) of the Innovation Center Team and will be expected to ensure that the programs, activities, and events hosted at the Center are well promoted, attended, and received at the Center. This is expected to be a 20hr/week position that will be compensated in-line with standard University policies. This role is an ideal entry point for one to learn more about innovation and entrepreneurship while providing a wonderful opportunity to refine and perfect one’s marketing, advertising, and event planning/hosting skills.
The Wond’rywill support a “maker” culture that encourages innovation and creativity. The Center will be a key resource in supporting immersive experiences for students and interdisciplinary projects for faculty. Likewise, the Wond’ry will often be an initial point of contact for alumni, corporate partners, and local businesses that want to access the Vanderbilt University innovation community.
This internship positionat the Wond’ry will perform marketing, advertising, and event planning/hosting duties for the Center. In particular, the Internwillperform duties, to include:
- Assisting the Program Manager and Program Coordinator with the creation of marketing and advertising materials (print, web, and social media) that highlight and promote the programs, activities, and events being hosted at or promoted by the Wond’ry
- Ensure that these aforementioned activities and programs are well-attended and received by the Vanderbilt Community by serving as a campus promoter, advocate, and liaison
- Helping oversee the setup, hosting, and taking down of events at the Wond’ry
- Providing daily tours and overviews of the Wond’ry to visitors of the Wond’ry
- Assist the Program Manager and Program Coordinator with efforts related to the Wond’ry Pillar Programs
- Assist the Program Coordinator with building relationships with key innovation and entrepreneurship organizations and constituents on campus
- Provide valuable and constructive feedback on hosted events and oversee the incorporation of said feedback into future hosted events to ensure that the Wond’ry is constantly improving how it serves the Vanderbilt Community
- Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager, Program Coordinator, and Executive Director
Basic Qualifications:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree
Ideal Candidate is pursuing a Graduate Degree or PhD in a related field
And/or Ideal Candidate has 1-3 years of relevant experience.
Please note this is a 20hr/week Time Commitment

- The qualified candidate will have very strong and creative marketing and advertising skills, with prior successful experience developing promotional materials (fliers, brochures, print, online, and social media).

- The qualified candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills, andbe able to interact fluidly with the many different individuals and organizations that contact and work with the Center.
- The qualified candidate will be proactive and always willing to accept delegation.
- The qualified candidate will have demonstrated experience managing projects to successful completion/outcomesunder set deadlines
- The qualifiedcandidate will be proficient in office software tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe, and other advertising and marketing creative tools
- The qualified candidatewillbe flexible in their job expectations and schedule in an office that is on the cutting edge of innovation.
