Enrollment Process (In Area Students)

In Area Students and Sibling Rule Students Priority Enrollment Only:

If you are not sure if your address is in the original Helix attendance area, please go to: and put your address in the search field to see if your residence falls within the grey shaded Helix boundary. If it does not, then please attend one of the Lottery meetingslisted on the reverse side of this document.

All students residing within the original Helix attendance area and out of areastudents with siblings currently attending Helix in 9th, 10th, or, 11thgrademust attend one of the four mandatory Family Orientation Meetings. At least one parent/guardian must be in attendance at the Family Orientation Meeting.

You must make an online appointment to attend one of theFamily Orientation Meetings to be held February 18th, 19th, 25th or 26th at If you are making an appointment for a student qualifying for enrollment under the sibling rule, please emailyour incoming 9th grade student's name and their sibling's name, Helix ID number, and grade level to Mrs. Sullivan before making an appointment.If your address is not in the Helix boundary, we will deny your appointment and you will be sent an email explaining how you can attempt to enroll in Helix through the lottery process (see reverse side for lottery process).

To gain admission to the meeting, please bring one proof of residency-- property deed, escrow papers, rental/lease agreement, current utility bills, property tax statement, or a permanent California Driver’s License with your current address.

Family Orientation Meetings:Helix Performing Arts Center 6-7:30 PM

Learn about Helix Charter High School’s: graduation requirements, quarter-system, extra-curricular programs, academic support programs, 9th grade course offerings, and student expectations regarding academics, discipline, and attendance.

After hearing about the educational program and extra-curricular programs offered at Helix, parents/guardians may choose to fill out anIntentto Enroll Form to exercise the student’s preferential enrollment opportunity to attend Helix.

Summer registration appointments will be scheduled at the end of the meeting. One hour appointments will be available from 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM on: June 9 – June 13 (Tues.-Sat.),

June 16 – June 20 (Tues.-Sat.), June 22 – June 26 (Mon.-Fri.), June 29-June 30 (Mon-Tues.).

Out of Area Prospective Students: Lottery Process

If you do not live within the Helix boundaries and you would like to attend Helix, then you must attend one of the following Lottery Meetings. If your student is currently attending one of the Helix feeder schools but you do not live in the Helix attendance boundaries, then you still must enroll in Helix through the Lottery process.

Lottery Meetings:Helix Performing Arts Center (PAC) from 6-7:00 PM.

Tuesday, January 27 (Last Names A-L) or Wednesday, January 28 (Last Names M-Z)

No Appointment Necessary

Make Up Lottery Meeting: Wednesday, March 5th 6:30-7:30 for all students unable to attend their assigned lottery meeting date in January.

After hearing about the educational program and extra-curricular programs offered at Helix, if you are still interested in enrolling at Helix, you will complete and turn in a questionnaire lottery card. You will receive a copy of the card and your assigned lottery ID number.

After alllottery meetings have occurred and all lottery cards have been collected, the cards will be separated by grade level and randomly selected assigning them a number. This will be your number on the Lottery waiting list. There is no advantage to attending the first meeting.

On March 18th, the lottery waiting list with each student’s Lottery ID and Lottery # will be posted at .

In April, May, and June, as we determine that there is room for lottery students at our grade level, we will begin the process of contacting students with Lottery #1 on our grade level’s waiting list and we will work our way through the list, until we reach our target enrollment for the Class of 2019 as set by the Helix Charter Board.
