***

Fort Worth: We do have a preference for domestic violence victims but they must be referred through our local women's shelters.

***

Temple: Yes, but we are thinking about removing it. It is not required and there have been a lot of issues with verifying the domestic violence.

***

Plano: 100 point preference or high preference with documentation

***

Kingsville: Yes we do have a local preference for the displaced preference which

includes Domestic Violence. The incident has to have occurred within the

last 3 months and social service agency or police/fire documentations has to

be provided.

***

Grapevine: Yes, proof required.

***

Gladewater: Yes, a weighted preference that must be verified.

***

Harlingen: We do not have a local preference for victims of domestic violence. We will quickly transfer tenants that have been victims if their former spouses / significant others are threatening them. We have had specific low rent program units under contract to the local crisis center - they placed victims and families there. We provided the maintenance services for the units.

***

Kemp: No, we used to have a local preference for domestic violence, veterans, and working full time and living in the city. None of those worked out well. People would get in by working full time then quit their job as soon as they got an apt. I talked to HUD about turning my old maintenance office into an efficiency for emergency housing for domestic violence victims, but they told me I would not receive any HUD funding and there is a moratorium on any new units.

***

UAH Property Management: Yes, certain managed communities require us to meet a "special needs" quota and among the special needs are "victims of domestic violence."
