is offering a county-wide summer educational opportunity for students in need of credit recovery of a course previously taken. Credits may be awarded by the district in which the student is permanently enrolled. All course results will be forwarded to the student’s identified district. It is the responsibility of each student to verify acceptance of credit earned by their respective district.

SCHEDULE:

5 credit courses

Session A July 6th to July 31st

Period I~ 7:30-10:30 Period II ~10:45-1:45

FEES: $375 per 5-credit course.

ATTENDANCE: No unexcused absences are allowed. Missed classes must be made up in order to receive credit at the discretion of the administration. The total class hours needed to gain credit is 60 hours- 20 days, 3 hour sessions each.

DISCIPLINE: Discipline problems will be reported to a parent or guardian. Serious behavior problems such as drug or alcohol abuse, and physical or verbal aggression will result in immediate dismissal. HIB violations will be automatic removal from program. No refunds will be given for disciplinary reasons.

AN OVERVIEW

The Sussex County Educational Services Commission (SCESC) operates a special needs program at our Northern Hills Academy School location centrally located in Sussex County. The Commission works with sending districts to provide programs that enable students to flourish in a specialized setting that is still a public school. The SCESC Northern Hills Academy School serves students in pre-k through age 21.

The emphasis in each of the SCESC school based programs is placed on the needs and well-being of the individual student. We feel strongly that the success of our students can be directly linked to the SCESC belief that each of our students is unique. We do not believe in one size fits all education. We strive to develop a program based on sound educational theory that will best serve the individual student. We feel this philosophy is the key to the SCESC Schools’ decades of success with a wide range of students.
