Semperit Extends High-Mileage Runner Tyre Family

Vienna/Hanover, June 8, 2016. Following the successful launch last year, Semperit is introducing further additions to its new Runner tyre family. The steering axle tyre, Runner F2 and the drive axle tyre, Runner D2 are now rounded off with the matching trailer axle tyre Runner T2. The complete tyre family is for a combined use in regional and long distance transportation and offers both a long service life and high mileage.

Semperit launched its product campaign last summer with the Runner F2 for the steering axle and the Runner D2 drive-axle tyre in the size 315/80 R 22.5. Both tyres of the fuel-efficient Runner family are now also available in the size 315/70 R 22.5 and the range has been completed with the matching trailer tyres Runner T2 in sizes 385/55 R 22.5 and 385/65 R 22.5.

Newly designed treads with a compact pattern and specially developed rubber compounds make these tyres the masters of mileage. "With the Runner family, Semperit is offering robust tyres that reliably deliver good performance mile after mile. These tyres will take you anywhere, from the freeway all the way to the mountains," explains Daniel Gainza, Marketing Director Truck Tyres EMEA at Continental Reifen Deutschland GmbH, whose product portfolio also includes the Semperit brand.

Semperit Runner F2 – Low rolling resistance and reliable grip on wet roads

The compact tread pattern of the Semperit Runner F2 steering axle tyre features a high proportion of abrasion-resistant material in the areas that display slight deformations. This "Void Optimized Pattern" contributes to the long service life and optimum fuel efficiency of the Runner F2. The outer grooves of the tread run straight, leading to a major improvement in tread durability even in demanding road conditions.

The rubber compound used for the tread, optimized for rolling resistance, increases the savings in fuel consumption.

Thanks to additional deeper pocket sipes in the tread pattern, the steering axle tyre is also safe for driving on wet roads, due to improved water expulsion. As a result the Semperit Runner F2 has even better grip in the wet than its predecessor and achieves the wet grip label grade B.

Semperit Runner D2 – Optimum service life and high durability

The drive axle tyre Semperit Runner D2 was specially designed for best traction, long service life, and durability.

The newly developed tread pattern features a block design with numerous sipes. These sipes, which extend to almost two thirds of the total tread depth, provide greater block stability and improved wear behavior. In addition, in their role as gripping edges, these sipes ensure especially good traction throughout the entire life of the Semperit Runner D2.

Just as for the Semperit Runner F2, the tread of the drive axle tyre Semperit
Runner D2 has a void optimized pattern, effectively increasing the tyre life.
Another contribution to the improved service life is the newly developed rubber compound, which enables substantial savings in fuel consumption.

Semperit Runner T2 – 7 percent wider tread for more mileage

Of course, the new Semperit tyre range is only really rounded off with the matching trailer tyre Runner T2 385/65 R 22.5. Its seven percent wider tread delivers high mileage and the new composition of the rubber compound makes the trailer tyre more resistant to cuts.

Thanks to the intelligent sipe geometry, the Semperit Runner tyres get the vehicle safely to its destination – even on rain-soaked road surfaces.
The Runner D2 315/70 R 22.5 drive axle tyre is distinguished by both the M+S and Three Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) marking. The Runner F2 315/70 R 22.5 bears the M+S symbol. The steering axle tyre also offers a higher load rating, meeting the new requirements for Euro 6 vehicles. The reinforced bead allows both tyres to effectively withstand varying loads and their improved wear behavior increases driving comfort.

The high design quality of the Semperit Runner tyres is affirmed by the Red Dot Design Award 2016, which was awarded to the Runner D2 drive axle tyre. All the tyres in the Semperit Runner family can be retreaded.
