Meeting 2867
Tim Pfeiffer – Marion Council
Tim is deputy mayor of the City of Marion and has been of utmost assistance to us in the relocation of the bookshop.
In his real job he is Manager Strategic Planning & Performance -SA Water
and is accountable for the development and delivery of long term strategy, strategic planning services, corporate planning services and performance management reporting for SA Water.
Tim is married with three children and lives in and loves the area. He lives near the bookshop and visits regularly.
Tim’s’ motto is “get it right the first time” and his aim when he joined council 4 yrs. ago was to get bold ideas happening. He has several areas he is passionate about
· Older people - there are many in the area and many are lonely or alone. He is actively involved with the Active Elders Association. He worked towards a grant for them to upgrade their facilities
· Cycling and the new bikeway along the tram line. Tim wants to keep people on bikes.
· Younger people. There are lots of new families and he wants open spaces and play areas for children and families. Two playgrounds have been upgraded and more are to follow.
· He is also keen on “fixing stuff” which has been lying idle in the area, some issues for many years. Some of these things include storm water drainage, the laneways in Glandore and open space availability
Tim told us that the bookshop had breathed new life into the area. And how he hears the locals praising the facility and how they enjoy coming there.
He looks forward to the area adjacent becoming a useful community area and is committed to assisting wherever he can.
The best leader is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self-restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it. (Theodore Roosevelt)

Paul Harris Award
It was with a great deal of pleasure that the Club awarded Frank Bibby a Paul Harris Fellowship. Due to ill health, several members of the club including Mike Hiosan, Ray Trenorden, Lyle Strachan and Merilyn Russell made the presentation at Frank’s home.
Frank is particularly passionate about RYDA and was instrumental in organising three RYDA programs over the past five years. He has also contributed to the club in many other ways.
Our congratulations and thoughts are with Frank and Joy.
ROTARY BOOKSHOP
