TOPIC: HOSA BLOOD DRIVE

Students, Teachers and Staff,Have a heart and plan to participate in the HOSA Blood Drive on Wednesday February 24 in the East View Library. Your donation will helpsave 3 lives. If you are at least 17 years old and weigh at least 115 lbs. you can be a HERO. Sign up during all lunches in the cafeteria.

TOPIC: EAST VIEW SWIMMING

Emilie Parks represented East View High School at the 2016 UIL State Swimming Championships, and she did an awesome job! Emilie placed 7th in the 200 Freestyle with a new varsity school record in a time of 1:53.87. Coach LaRaia and Coach Pukys are so proud of this young lady with her dedication and commitment to patriot swimming.

TOPIC: ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE FUNDRAISER

Please plan to join the Academic Excellence Committee on Wednesday, February 24th from 5:00 to 9:00 pm for their fundraiser at Hat Creek Burger Company. Make sure you mention East View's Academic Excellence BEFORE you order for Academic Excellence to receive 10% of the sales. Thank you and see you Wednesday at Hat Creek!

TOPIC: SERVICE HOURS

Hey seniors, Annalise Perez completed her hours for senior service. How about you? You have THREE WEEKS LEFT to get your hours submitted to Mrs. Ray or Mrs. Scholtz on the English hall. Go to the senior service program link on the right hand side of the East view home page to check your hours and to print evaluation forms. No hours submitted after March 11 will be considered for the silver cord to wear with your graduation regalia. Remember you must have volunteered for 50 hours total at least two but no more than 4 locations. You must have a minimum of 25 hours at one location. All hours have to be between June 1, 2015 and March 11, 2016. If you didn’t submit your notice of intent by the deadline, you are not eligible for the silver cord.

TOPIC: RACHELS CHALLENGE

It's time to begin Rachel's Challenge! Anyone who came to the first meeting after the assembly or anyone who wants to join is welcome. We will have our first Friends of Rachel, or FOR Club, meeting on Thursday, February 25th starting promptly at 4:00 in the library. There will be posters and flyers around the school so be watching and we hope to see you there so we can start East View's first CHAIN REACTION!

TOPIC: YEARBOOKS

Get your yearbooks now! Friday, February 26 is the last chance for you to get your book for $55 they go up to $60 through the rest of the year. You can pick up an order form by the Diamond or in room 128, and pay with cash or check.

TOPIC: PALS

Do you like working with young children? Would you make a good mentor to a local kid in need? Then maybe you should apply to be a pal. Pals travel to local elementary schools and mentor students. If you are interested please stop by room 502 and get an application. Completed applications are due by March 2.

TOPIC: INTERNATIONAL WEEK

Next week is INTERNATIONAL WEEK. Each day, get ready to broaden your perspectives as you learn a little something about another part of the world. Make sure you start planning your outfit for next Friday the 26th. We will be announcing facts from countries all over the world, so pick a country and an outfit to wear. It's as easy as wearing a jersey from a country's team. Get ready for INTERNATIONAL WEEK!

TOPIC: BIG ART DAY

Big Art Day is a statewide event initiated by the Texas Art Education Association to promote the visual arts/art education to local communities. Next Thursday theEVHSArt Club will have an Art bazaar set up during all three lunches that will have cool art making projects,introduce EVHS students to classical &contemporary artists, as well as careers in the art field. Stopby to win cool prizes, make fun art, and support your local artists and friends.

TOPIC: EMPTY BOWLS 2016

The Empty Bowls Event, an annual occasion done across the nation done in different ways, was designed to raise money for local food banks/shelters. The empty bowl is symbolic of those who go without anything to eat on a daily basis. The bowls are crafted by community members, and then are auctioned off. The proceeds from the bowl sales are then donated to local charity programs. On Thursday,March 03,from 5 to 8PM,theEVHS Art Club will facilitate bowl-making in three, 1 hour long blocks. If you are interested in attending be sure to email Mr. Lane () as soon as possible, as space and materials are limited. There is no cost to attend. This event is open to all GISD students, faculty, and family members.

TOPIC:PAUL THE PATRIOT AND CHEER TRYOUTS

If you are interested in trying out for Cheerleader or Paul the patriot for the 2016-2017 school year pick up an application at the diamond. There will be a mandatory parent/candidate meeting in the lecture hall @ 6:30pm on February 25th or March 1st

TOPIC: KINDNESS MATTERS

This week's Kindness Challenge is to send a card to a soldier stationed overseas and say thank you.Let them know you appreciate their sacrifice. Check out for more information.

TOPIC: SCHOLARSHIPS

The Georgetown Area Republican Women are offering $1000 scholarship to female high school seniors. Please go by the counseling office for an application. The deadline for submission is March 25th 2016.

The Chris and Anna Freas Scholarship fund in the amount of $5,225 is available to high school seniors through the shared application.The deadline to submit a shared application is April 1st.

The Ned Snead Memorial Scholarship is available to female seniors who plan to study engineering. Make sure you have completed the shared application by April 1st and have turned it in to Mrs. Brown in the counseling office.

The San Gabriel Women’s Club scholarship is available to seniors. Please go by the counseling office for application information. The deadline is April 1st.
