Procedures for MyanmarNationals Applying for Visas to the Republic of China(Taiwan)

1.Nationals of Myanmar may apply for ROC visitor visas ONLYforthe following purposes:

(1) Invited by ROC government agencies on official missions.

(2) Participating in international meetings or activities involving religious, athletic, or cultural exchanges, which are held by organizations registeredin Taiwan.

(3)Visiting dependents with legal status in Taiwan, including spouse, family members of a lineal relationship, or siblings.

(4) Conducting economic or commercial businesses (accompanying spouse and children may apply as well, but proof of relationship is required).

(5)Crew members to board ships in Taiwan.

(6)Medical Treatment in Taiwan (short-term).

(7)Tourism (pilot measure starting date:2014/08/01)

2.All required documents issued in the territoryof Myanmar must be attachedwith an English translation. The following authentication procedures throughMinistry of Foreign Affairs in MyanmarEmbassy of Myanmar in BangkokThis Officemight be requested.

(1)All copies must beaccompanied with the originals, which will be returned upon collection.

(2) The processing time for authentication is4 working days or more.

3.Myanmar nationals have to provide all required documents listed in“Information on the Republic

of China (Taiwan) Visas” (A duly completed visa application form signed by the applicant. The application form must be filled in online. The website for the online service is: In addition, Myanmar nationalsare obliged to obtain a letter of guarantee(can be downloaded at their sponsors in Taiwan【except for the purpose of visits as mentioned at 1(1),(2)】.

4.The applicantsmustsubmit in person and receive an interviewwith visa officer(interview could be exempted if an applicant has been interviewed in the past 5 years, however,Consular officers reserve the rights to request an interview with the applicant if deemed necessary). The interview time is the next day after submitting the application for normal case, or the same day after submitting the application for express service). This office doesn’t provide pre-check serviceor application by mail.The visa processing time is2 working days (2 days after application day, pick up time is after 13:30 PM), or 1 working day for express service ( 1 day after applying day, pick up time after 13:30 P.M).

5.Forcertain visa application cases, this office might request the sponsors in Taiwan to submit relevant documents to the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for further examination. The Bureau will notify this office the final visa decision and the processing time could be longer than 7 working days.

6.以「僑生」身分赴台就讀大專院校學士班或碩士班之緬甸僑生,自2015年7月15日起,試辦緬甸僑生赴台就學簽證免附財力證明、在台關係人擔保、最高學歷免經驗證及視個案情況減免面談等措施。倘以個人身分向我國大專院校申請入學獲准,欲以「外籍生」身分申請簽證者,依現行規定本處無法受理。

Document For Business Purpose :

1. A completed visa application form signed by the applicant. The application form must be filled in online. The website for the online service is: ;

2. A passport valid for at least 6 months with blank page(s);

3. Two 2-inch size color photos;

4. Photocopy of the applicant’s passport basic information page and the page showing entry into Thailand.

5. Air ticket (shown the completed trip schedule from the country of origin→Taiwan→the country of origin);

6. Certificate of employment and assignment letter issued by applicant’s company;

7. Bank statement;

8. Valid company registration or business license of applicant’s company;

9. Myanmar I.D. card and household registration documents of applicant;

10.Invitation letter issued from a Taiwan company;

11. “Letter of guarantee” issued by a Taiwan company;

12. Valid company registration or business license of a Taiwaninviter;

13. Related business correspondence letters, trading records (e.g.,T.T., L/C, record of business transactions, remittance receipts, bill of landing…etc.)betweenapplicant’s company and Taiwaninviter;

Document For Attending International Conferences Or Exhibitions in Taiwan:

1. up to 9. items same as mentioned as for business visas;

10. Invitation letter form the Taiwan organizer of conference / exhibition;

11. Detailed information about conference / exhibition.

12.Consular officers reserve the rights to request additional documents as deemed necessary in certain cases. A “letter of guarantee” may be required.

Document For Boarding Ship:

1. up to 6. items same as mentioned as for business visas;

7. Seafarers’identitydocument and seaman’s book;

8.“Letter of guarantee” issued by Taiwan shipping company;

9. Valid company registration or business license of Taiwanshipping company;

Document For Visiting Relatives:

1. up to 5. items same as mentioned as for business visas;

6. Applicant’sMyanmar I.D. card and household registration document;

7. Taiwanrelative’s valid I.D. card or alien residence certificate(ARC) or permanent resident(PR);

8. Taiwanrelative’s household registration issued by a regional Household Registration Office within the last 3 months;

9. Documents proving the relationship between applicants and Taiwan relative, e.g., birth certificate, marriage certificate or household registrationdocument;

10. “Letter of guarantee” issued by a Taiwanrelative;

11. Evidence of adequate finance (A.Bank statement or bank deposits passbook with at least 6 months deposit/withdrawal records. B.Personal ownership of real estate or certificate of taxation can be supplementary if certificate of bank deposit is not sufficient or unavailable);

Document For Short-Term Medical Treatment:

1. up to 6. items same as mentioned as for business visas, Myanmar I.D. card, and Letter of guarantee” issued by a Taiwanese national.

7. Medical diagnosis from a local physician (Explaining the patient’s condition andthe needs for an international medical referral);

8.A scheduled appointment and a proposal of treatment from a Taiwan hospital (Expressing willingness to treat this patient);

9.Evidence of adequate finance (A.Bank statement or bank deposits passbook with at least 6 months deposit/withdrawal records. B.Personal ownership of real estate or certificate of taxation can be supplementary if certificate of bank deposit is not sufficient or unavailable);

10.Relatives wishing to accompany the patient to Taiwancan also apply for visas (Proof of their relationship are required);

11. Consular officers reserve the rights to request additional documents as deemed necessary in certain cases. A “letter of guarantee” may be required.

3.Hospitals qualified in Taiwan for the above service :台灣醫療機構限衛生福利部公告之【醫療服務國際化推動計畫會員機構】。

Document For Religious Activity:

1. A completed visa application form signed by the applicant. The application form must be filled in online. The website for the online service is: ;

2. A passport valid for at least 6 months with blank page(s);

3. Two 2-inch size color photos;

4. Photocopy of the applicant’s passport basic information page.

5. Air ticket (shown the complete round trip schedule from the country of origin→Taiwan→the country of origin);

6. Myanmar I.D. card and household registration documents of applicant;

7. Religious ID and proof/record of participating in religious activities;

8. Registration of Taiwan religious organization;

9. Invitation letter issued from a Taiwan religious organization、detailed information of the religious activities、duration of stay in Taiwan…etc.

10.Evidence of adequate finance (A.Bank statement or bank deposits passbook with at least 6 months deposit/withdrawal records. B.Personal ownership of real estate or certificate of taxation can be supplementary if certificate of bank deposit is not sufficient or unavailable);

11. “Letter of guarantee” issued by a Taiwan religious organization (with guarantor’s name, address, telephone, signature…, etc.);

12. 倘赴台目的為「研修宗教教義」,則台灣邀請單位須先向「事業主管機關」申請許可函後,本處方能受理

13.持外僑居留證在台就學或研修宗教教義者在台居留滿一年後,其配偶及未成年子女始得申請赴台依親居留;在此之前申請人之配偶及未成年子女僅得申請赴台短期探親。1 year after the applicant obtains Taiwan Alien Resident Certificate, the applicant’s spouse and minor children might apply for resident visa in Taiwan. Before that they can only apply for short term visitor visa.

14.本處收件並辦理面談後,須將申請案送至外交部領事事務局查核,由外交部決定是否核發簽證,通常需要約1週工作時間。

Application forreligious purpose, this office might request the sponsors in Taiwan to submit relevant documents to the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for further examination. The Bureau of Counsular Affairs will review and notify this office the final visa decision. The processing time could be longer than 7 working days

Document For Tourism:(pilot measurestarting date:2014/08/01)

1.Myanmar nationals, who also possessed visa or permanent resident certificate issued within past 5 years by U.S.A., Canada, Japan, U.K., Schengen Convention countries, Australia or New Zealand, are eligible for applying tourist visas. Applicants must provide proof of the above-mentioned visas or permanent resident certificate when submitting application.

2.A duly completed visa application form signed by the applicant. The application form must be filled in online. The website for the online service is: ;

3.A passport valid for at least 6 months with blank page(s);

4.Two 2-inch size color photos;

5.Photocopy of the applicant’s passport basic information page and the page showing entry into Thailand.

6.Travel itinerary、hotel booking record、Air ticketbooking record (shown the complete round trip schedule from the country of origin→Thailand →Taiwan→the country of origin);

Applicants might also need to present the following document upon request

7.Certificate of employment and assignment letter issued by applicant’s company;

8.Applicant’s Myanmar I.D. card and household registration document;

9.Evidence of adequate finance (A.Bank statement or bank deposits passbook with at least 6 months deposit/withdrawal records. B.Personal ownership of real estate or certificate of taxation can be supplementary if certificate of bank deposit is not sufficient or unavailable) ;

10.Other supporting document.

※The above-mentioned Myanmar documents shouldbe attached with an English translation. The following authentication procedures through Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Myanmar、Embassy of Myanmar in Bangkok and This Office might also be requested.

1
