A different period can be negotiated within reasonable limits. In these 3-bedroom appartments, an internet connection will be provided. The accommodation offered is furnished and the rent is generally all-inclusive. In these student accommodation, you will have shared kitchen and bathroom facilities.
Costs
Although housing in Vlissingen is more affordable than in other student towns, accommodation in the Netherlands is not cheap. If you are looking for a room, you should be prepared for a monthly rent of €300,- up to €350,-. It is also important to know that, when you book a room with l'Escaut, you are requested to pay5 months in advance plus a deposit. Other accommodation
You might try to find accommodation by yourself on the private sector. Please note that a holiday home is not considered to be a perment address and is not a valid address for registration in the town register. EU students have to register with the municipal register before 1 October to be eligible for the normal EU-students tuition fees (1771 Euros). If you register with the municipal register after 1 October, HZ will have to apply higher tuitions fees, namely 4950 Euros.
note : Students who live in the following border regions are not obliged to register with the town register: Belgium, Luxemburg, Nord-Rhein-Westfalen, Niedersachsen and Bremen.
HousingAnywhere
This is a housing platform where students that go abroad for an exchange semester or internship can sublet their rooms. Incoming exchange students that come to your city can rent those rooms. Thus, HousingAnywhere is a student-to-student platform where demand & supply of short term accommodation can find each other. It is a very simple, but very effective tool to increase the amount of short term accommodation available to your incoming exchange students. Click here for the website.

In order to make payments at HZ (copying, printing, buying food at the cafeteria) you need a bankcard with a ‘chipknip’. As this is typically Dutch, you need to open a bank account at a Dutch bank.
This can be any bank you prefer but Rabobank Vlissingen has a special package for HZ-students. You can use this bank account as a normal account if you put money on it, or transfer money from your ‘home’ bank account. You can order this bank pass at the Rabobank. If you do this you will most likely receive your bank pass during the 1st week after your arrival. If you start the application process for a bankaccount/bank pass after arrival in the Netherlands, it will take a few weeks before you get it. We will explain everything about how to use the ‘chipknip’ in the 1st week of your arrival.
