The IEEE Power & Energy Society Outstanding Power Engineering Educator Award Committee is seeking nominations for the next award. The eligibility requirements for the nominee and the nominator are on the attached nomination form. You are encouraged to nominate individuals who have made outstanding contributions to power engineering education. Information on past
recipients is available on the IEEE/PES web site under Awards. Nominations and reference letters are due on or before January 30 and the address to which these items are to be sent is on the attached nomination form. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Nomination Form
IEEE PES Outstanding Power Engineering Educator Award
Awarded to an outstanding electric power engineering educator for excellence in teaching; ability to inspire students; contributions to education and the publication of textbooks and other writings; innovations in power engineering education; leadership; and service to the profession and power engineering education community.
Eligibility of nominator
· The nominator must be a member of the IEEE Power & Energy Society.
· Members of the IEEE PES Outstanding Power Engineering Educator Award Committee are ineligible to nominate persons for this award.
Eligibility of the nominee
· The nominee must have been a member of the IEEE Power & Energy Society for at least one year as of the date of the nomination.
Nomination form to be used
· Only the current nomination form may be used.
· The spacing of the nomination form may not be changed, but unaltered electronic copies taken from the ‘www’ may be used.
· Do not exceed the space provided for the items on the nomination form.
· Late submissions are not accepted.
· No additional pages or materials may be attached to the nomination form.
· Unsuccessful nominations are not carried over to the next year.
Endorsement letters
· The endorsement letters required as stated on the nomination form are due by the same date as the nomination and the same addresses below should be used for submission.
· Letters must be sent by the endorsers directly to the Chair at the address below.
· There is no required form or format for these letters.
· If more than five letters are received, only the first five received will be used in the evaluation.
· Members of the IEEE–PES Outstanding Power Engineering Educator Award Committee are ineligible to submit endorsement letters for persons nominated for this award.
Evaluation of the nominations
· The nominations are evaluated by the IEEE PES Outstanding Power Engineering Educator Award Committee.
· Results of the award committee will be communicated to the nominators (not the nominees) in April.
· All items on the nomination form may be used in the evaluation, but the committee will specifically evaluate the five items marked with an asterisk (*) with equal weighting.
Frequency: One per year.If no suitable candidate is proposed in a given year, the award will not be presented for that year.
PES, being one of IEEE’s Organizational Units, follows IEEE Policy 4.4H.

Eligibility and Process Limitations. Individuals serving on any board or committee involved at any stage of the recipient selection or approval process for an award shall be ineligible to receive, or act as a nominator or reference for that award. This conflict of interest limitation shall apply to all awards given by the IEEE or any of its organizational units.

1. Name of nominee and IEEE grade. Please indicate the nominee’s name, IEEE membership grade and state whether the nominee is a member of the Power & Energy Society. Note: the nominee must be a member of PES.

*8. Excellence in teaching / inspiring students. Indicate examples of excellence in teaching and ability to inspire students. Include awards and recognition by colleagues and former students. You may include bachelors / masters / doctoral level supervision.
*9. Contributions to education. Supply the nominee’s electric power engineering education contributions through: textbooks written; papers and other presentations on power engineering education; and teaching activities.
*10. Innovations in teaching. Indicate innovations in curricula, teaching methodology, and other educational development activities. Laboratory development may be included here. Include items both within the nominee’s own institution (i.e., local) and at other institutions (i.e., cooperative activities).
*11. Leadership in power engineering profession. Supply the record of leadership of the electric power engineering profession through building bridges with industry and government, acting as spokesperson for educators, obtaining educational and research support for power education. List the most significant leadership activities in priority order within the space provided.
*12. Professional society contributions. List the nominee’s participation in the activities of professional societies as related to: education; publications; committee / subcommittee / working group activities. Begin with the IEEE – Power & Energy Society – Power Engineering Education Committee and continue with other IEEE activities and continue further with all other activities. International activities and research contributions may be included.
