Oceanside Harbor Days 2010 features Pirate Village, the Tall Ship Californian and popular local bands
OCEANSIDE, Calif. (Sept. 16, 2010) –Sporting a whole new look, the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce will present the annual Oceanside Harbor Dayson Oct. 2-3, 2010, at the OceansideHarbor. The theme of this year’s event is A Pirate’s Playground. PirateVillage, a Harbor Day’s favorite, will be returning this year with lots of Pirate fun and mayhem. The historic tall ship, Californian, will also be returning to the harbor providing scenic tours with spectacular photo opportunities. Visitors will enjoy popular events including roaming pirates, live entertainment, arts and craft exhibits, great food and fun activities for the entire family. The event is open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day.
“This year, Harbor Days promises to have you on your feet with a great line up of entertainment,”commented David Nydegger, President and CEO of the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce.
Popular performers will include: Upstream, Irieside, The Buzzbombs, Full Energy Band, The Pirates Charles, VistaSchool of Rock, NorthCountyAcademy of Music Performance, CCF Poly Dance Team, Aloha Nui Hula and more.
For those anticipating all things pirate, visitors won’t be disappointed. Capt. Jack will make his fourth annual appearance along with all his crew to stir up all kinds of swashbuckling fun in the Harbor. Area Pirate Guilds will also be available for pictures, pirate stories and games.
On Saturday, Oct. 2, guests will have the opportunity to dine with Pirates at the Ye ol’ Pirate Buffet presented by the Jolly Roger Restaurant. The dinner event will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and

The Tall Ship Californian will be located at the Dolphin Dock on Saturday, Oct. 2 for dockside tours as well as offering a sailing tour on Sunday, Oct. 3 at noon. For more information and reservations for the sailing tour, please visit
Harbor Days would not be complete without its traditional signature events that include:
Fishing Derby: Guests swarm around the fishing pier in order to witness youngsters cast their lines for the biggest fish.
Nail and Sail: Spectators are entertained as sailors sink or swim in this contest which pits brain against brawn as teams build and navigate a seaworthy craft around a short, but treacherous course.
United States Marine Corps and Navy Static Displays: Whether you’re a kid or a kid at heart, everyone has a great time crawling around these massive military machines that are on display at the OceansideHarborBeach. It’s a great opportunity to connect with our local military and learn more about their diverse responsibilities in the military.
The Opening Ceremonies for Harbor Days will take place Saturday, Oct. 2 at 12:00 noon at the Harbor Stage. Capt. Jack, a look-a-like from the popular movie series, will be emceeing the event. Briana Roecks, Miss Oceanside, will be singing the National Anthem and the Oceanside Fire Department will present the colors.
Access to Harbor Days will be easier than ever with rail transportation from the Sprinter and Coaster along with a free shuttle service that will be available from the OceansideTransitCenter to the Harbor. Whether you drive or ride, it is recommended that visitors utilize the shuttle service from the transit center.
