Minutes of Pastoral Council Meeting

January 23,2013

Opening Reflection: John 2:1-11: The Wedding at Cana

The minutes from the previous meeting of Dec. 5, 2012 were approved as written; they will be posted on the website accordingly.

  1. Community of Life Commission Report:

Ed Panconi the Chair of Community Life Commission was introduced by Cambria. Mr. Panconi reported that next Monday Feb. 4, 2013 there will be the 1st Annual Community Life Ministry "Social". The Commission is working on Holy Family 101: how to provide education to parishioners and get new and old parishioners involved. The plan is to educate the parishioners to who's who. This may be done with a power point presentation. They are working on how to enhance the Sunday Continental Breakfast with possibly having tables outside in nice weather. The Commission may use the screen in the Hall as a rolling advertisement during the Continental Breakfast. They will encourage parishioners to get involved with the Auction and the Fair. CPR classes may be open to parishioners for their personal life. The Commission would like to involve more parishioners in the July 4th Festival of Balloons.

  1. Cambria's Report:

Cambria presented an article "Helping, Fixing, or Serving?" it explained three different ways

for looking at life. Cambria reported a busy Lent Season will be upon us soon. Father Fish will

hold a retreat in March. A video on Vatican II will be shown as an educational piece. The

Council meeting on Feb. 27, 2013 will begin at 6 PM so members may attend the Mission.

Finance report is good: the parish is $236,000.00 ahead of budget so far this year, and

$59,000.00 ahead of last year at this time. Gardner Barker will chair the "St. Nicolas Guild".

The Holy Family School is in the process of accreditation. The Auction is coming up: "An

Evening at the Met". Valarie McAndrews will host the "Gift Gathering Party". Jan Clifford is

hosting the "Auction Kick-off Party". Cambria meet with Archbishop Gomez last evening and

discussed documents released to the newspaper concerning abuse by priest. The Archdiocese

has released 4 press releases regarding sexual abuse of minors by clergy.

III. Commission Reports:

Pastoral Council/Commission Proposed Annual Planning Schedule was presented. This

schedule purposes the Planning cycle for Commissions to achieve Pastoral Plan on a yearly

bases. Commission Chairs are meeting with each other and sharing ideas for different

projects. Commissions are looking at ways to streamline reporting.

IV. New Business:

Holy Family School has released their new lock down plan for safe guarding the children.

The next meeting of the Pastoral Council will be held February 27, 2013.
