Your testing will be at Sleep Diagnostics of America located inside Kindred Hospital at 1800 West 26th Street, Suite# 150 Houston, TX 77008. Please try to avoid arriving earlier than your appt. time to prevent a longer wait. The number to call for directions the night of your test is 832-877-2980 or 832-754-1019.
For rescheduling or anything unrelated to directions or preparations for this appt., you will need to call the administrative office during normal business hours Mon-Fri 9am -5pm (lunch 12-1pm)

1.Eat prior to coming for the study but avoid overeating.
2.Curtail the use of caffeine, including chocolate and tea after 2:00 p.m.
3.Avoid alcohol intake.
4.Please try to shower before coming but it is not necessary however, the cleaner your skin, the better contacts for the electrodes. Try to avoid hair care, or facial products such as mousse or gel, lotions, or oils. (you can wear deodorant).
5.If you do not have a beard, please try to shave before coming.
6.If you have a medical condition that may require a snack, please bring one. If you have medication that needs refrigeration, please make arrangements to bring a cooler or refrigeration. If you have scheduled medications and need to take them while you are with us, please bring them with you. Do not take any sleep aids before coming to the center, should you require one after you arrive, you may take it at that time.
7.Bring something comfortable to sleep in, pajamas or nightgown, but if you do not have this, something comparable is fine. You may also want to bring a robe and/or slippers for your comfort needs and anything else that would make your stay a comfortable one.
8. Remember to bring what you will need for the next morning, we do not have showers, unless you are scheduled for the heights location.
9.We like to make sure patients are as comfortable as possible, so if you have a special pillow or blanket please bring it with you. However, any personal items left at the center will be disposed of if they are not retrieved within 72 hours of your study.
10. Electrodes will be placed on you (monitoring wires), and will transmit information to a computer, once collected is sent to a specialized interpreting physician for review. If you need to go to the restroom during your test it is very easy to do so, the tech will go over this.
The sleep specialist will review the data collected and complete the results. The test results will be given to your physician. You will not be required to make an appt. to consult with the sleep specialist unless you or your physician specifically request. We will contact you once the test results are available, but please keep in mind that results can take up to 2 weeks however, we generally receive them back within a week.
If we are not given a 48 houradvance notice of cancelling, you will be charged $150 (insurance does not cover this).
Sleep apnea and other sleep related conditions are serious, please inform us in advance if you are unable to make it to this appt. We may be able to get someone who is eager to be seen in your place. Your appt. is scheduled with a specialized Sleep Tech who does the preparations and calibrations before your test and you could be their only patient. We appreciate your consideration.
