Volunteer Information

-Sign up for your position “online” on ClubRunner using the information provided. You will also need to complete a Casino Volunteer Worker Application form if filling a key position (General Manager, Alternate GeneralManager, Banker, Count Room Supervisor and Cashier). Craig will be in touch with those that volunteer for these Positions

-Please return “Casino Volunteer Worker Application” form directly to Craig when completed.

-You must bring photo ID to the Casino the day you volunteer.

-The casino is held on two days – July 2 & July 3, 2014. Hours of operation for Casino by Vanshaw at the Medicine Hat Lodge are 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

-You may volunteer for both days of the casino, or just one day. If you are volunteering for both days, or more than one shift you must choose the same position each time.

-In case of an emergency, casino volunteers can be contacted at the casino at 504-4584 Ext. 206.

-Dress comfortably, but no torn/ripped clothing, sweat suits, tank tops, and shorts.

-An advisor will train you on your position the day of your shift and answer any questions you may have. The advisor will also be on hand to walk you through the process, there is nothing that you will need to ‘know’ prior to arriving for your shift.

Alberta Gaming Volunteer Conduct Regulations

  1. Volunteers cannot play casino games or slots at any time onJuly 2 & 3– before, during, or after your shift.
  2. Alcohol may not be brought onto casino premises.
  3. Volunteers may not drink alcohol and/or be intoxicated before or during casino shift.
  4. Must be 18 years old to enter the casino.
  5. Cannot be in personal possession of casino chips for the duration of the casino event.

Volunteer Position Descriptions

Note: This is just an overview. The advisor onsite will train volunteers on their duties.

1st Shift: 2:45pm – 8:00pm

  1. General Manager & Alternate General Manager(Must fill out a volunteer form)

-Ensures that all volunteers report for duty and find a replacement if necessary

-Ensures that all volunteers follows the AGLC regulations

-Verifies opening chip and cash inventories

-Securely stores all cash and chips after casino closing

  1. Banker(Must fill out a volunteer form)

-Responsible for all chip and cash inventories during the casino

-Prepares fill and credits of chips to table games when required

-Prepares cash fills to cashier

-Monitors all activity in the cash cage

  1. Cashier (Must fill out a volunteer form)

-Exchanges chips presented by customers for cash

-Obtains verification from the Advisor, Banker or General Manager on any cash-out of $200 or more

-Provides courteous and professional service to customers

  1. Chip Runner(Do not fill out a volunteer form)

-Assists in opening and closing table games

-Delivers chips from Banker to table games

2nd Shift: 8:00pm – Closing (approx. 12:45am)

-Same as above

3rd Shift - Late Night Positions, All volunteers must be at the Casino by 10:30pm

  1. Count Room Supervisor(Must fill out a volunteer form)

-Responsible for all activities in the count room

-Ensures the security of the count room when the count is taking place

-Witnesses and records the count from each of the drop boxes

-Must be able to use a computer

  1. Counter(Do not fill out a volunteer form)

-Opens each drop box and counts the money according to procedures

  1. Sorter(Do not fill out a volunteer form)

-Sorts the contents of each drop box

-Witnesses the count

  1. Amalgamator(Do not fill out a volunteer form)

-Does a second count of the money

-Amalgamates and bundles all the money counted from all the drop boxes

  1. Recorder(Do not fill out a volunteer form)

-Enters money quantities into the computer system

Please note: If you are volunteering for more than one day or more than one shift you must choose the same position.
