Meeting called to order at 6:49 p.m.
SM requested that the minutes be corrected to show correct date. MM moved to accept with correction, with KP seconding.
Bastrop County and the City have started the appeal process for the SEAT base.
TXDoT has signed off on the Airport Development Plan, Tamble will have City staff post online with links to the latest map.
The Maintenance hangar floor and roof repairs are complete.
RT indicated that the process has begun to move non-operational planes from the tie-down areas.
On Wednesday, May 3 the security cameras will be installed. Each AAB member will receive a link to the online feed as will the plane owners who hangar at 84R.
A Mooney aircraft was damaged in the maintenance hangar during the repairs. The investigation into the cause was inconclusive; the City of Smithville will pay for repairs.
RT will have signs posted at 84R indicating 24 hour surveillance to warn thieves and vandals. The feed will be to a terminal in the FBO office. The system is capable of recording days, not just hours, of surveillance. The Board feels this is an excellent step in achieving a safe and secure facility.
MM asked if the ADP diagram indicates accurate airport boundaries.
After much discussion, RT said the issue is in process by the City and the boundaries will eventually be accurately depicted.
Discussion followed on the LCRA’s new transmission towers and their impact on airport activities. Lights will need to be placed for safety but it has been ascertained there is minimal or no impact on airport operations.
The RFP to be published for the FBO is still in the City’s legal department, but is soon to be posted.
RT weeded the segmented circle and City staff installed a new windsock. The Citywill paint the concrete circle segments with high visibility paint. Some is left over from the last maintenance of the circle.
Mr. Hoffrek has complied with his haying and baling contract and is installing an electrified hog fence.
RT indicated the RFP for the FBO removes landscape maintenance; that will be a separate agreement.
RT reported road base to repair the road behind the south hangars will be spread.
MM pointed out that the edge of the runway and apron is deteriorating due to grass/weed incursion. An application of a defoliant should be sprayed then cracks sealed. AW suggested several contractors may wish to bid on the work. Funding was discussed, withno resolution.
RT also reported on several recent events in Smithville and that several vendors are indicating interest in participating in further events such as the upcoming fly in. Amy’s Ice Cream was one. SM reported on the donations for the fly in to date and urged all present to let him know when they secure a donation.
Bobby Vinklarek will hold the airplane beauty contest this year as Richard Tonry has a scheduling conflict.
RT and SM are aware of the damage to the fly in signage and are working on a fix.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:24 p.m.
