Haleakalā National Parkseeks cultural practitionersfor Hana No`eau, a series of Native Hawaiian cultural programs. The name refers to honoring and demonstrating Native Hawaiian traditions.The series is open to all practitioners; schools and community youth groups are especially encouraged to apply.Through support from our non-profit partner, the Hawai`i Pacific Parks Association, an honorarium of $200 will be offered to each group of practitioners. The series will begin on Saturday, July 9,and run through Sunday, September 18, 2016.

  • In the Summit District, cultural demos will occur by the Headquarters Visitor Center, between 10am and 12pm on Saturdays. This visitor center is a short drive past the Summit Entrance Station.
  • In the Kīpahulu District, cultural demos will occur by the Kīpahulu Visitor Center, between 1pm and 3pm on Sundays.
  • On the weekend of July 30 and 31 we will celebrate the Centennial Anniversary of Haleakalā NP via several cultural demos in each district.
  • School or youth groups that may need different dates or times to better match their schedules should note their preferences in the space provided on the next page.

Please arrive and set up 30 minutes ahead of time. Plan on 100-200 visitors taking part in your activity.Please note that practitioners will not be allowed to sell any products or collect tips in the park.
