Job Function:
Working with our food operations team, you will provide a supporting role in ensuring the smooth day to day operations of our food service businesses. Through your knowledge of the food service industry, you take pride in ensuring a safe and clean environment for our staff and Union Station patrons and providing them a positive customer experience. You are customer focused, enthusiastic and thrive in a fast-paced goal oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Operate the industrial dishwasher
  • Maintainkitchenwork area, equipment and utensils in a clean, sanitary and orderly fashion
  • Ensures relevant work stations are stocked and preppedfor that shift.
  • Provide additional support for BUSU special events. This may include set-up and take down. Ensures catering area is clean and properly set up before the event.
  • Empty and clean all trash receptacles regularly throughout shift.
  • Provide assistance to prep cook and other kitchen staff as needed, especially during peak times
Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Well-developed time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as a part of a team on a task.
  • Must be a registered undergraduate student at Brock University.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Working Conditions:
PHYSICAL EFFORT
The majority of the work does not require a high level of physical activity. However, the work does require you to stand for your shift and repetitive motion. From time to time some physical labour may be required i.e. moving materials around the outlet or other items for special events.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
Job requires standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, handling, reaching, grasping, lifting 50 lbs., and repetitive motions. Job requires dealing with soaps, and cleaning chemicals on a continuous basis. Kitchen environment may have times of high noise levels.
SENSORY ATTENTION
Job requires a high level of concentration and focus.
MENTAL STRESS
The Union Station Employeemust be able to work flexible hours in order to be successful. Must be able to work in fast paced environment and work through complex situations which ensure that the Health and Safety of the workers is included.
