Designation: Assistant Manager (Operations)

Monitoring Operational activities of Base location & attached spoke offices.(Handling 8 locations with team of 16 employees)

Responsibilities:

·  Underwriting/ Policy Servicing/ Customer Service/Claims

Monitoring & Ensuring quality underwriting (Scrutiny of forms) at branch level by adhering to AML and KYC guidelines. Ensuring that executives under my locations are coordinating with HUB and HO for timely issuance and completion of cases so that TAT should be met & customer service related issues for timely resolution of customer grievances. Ensuring that the Claims (Death/Health/Survival)process strictly followed in all the branches so that there shouldn't be any delay in customer service.

·  Renewals

Monitoring renewal chasing activities of staff & ensuring achievement of given renewal target of base location as well as of spoke offices. Chasing HNI customers & IC's. Launching schemes for IC's & SM's at local level to boost the conversion.

·  Finance & Accounts

Monitoring all the financial activities & keeping an eye on all the transactions being done in branches. Verifying & ensuring that all the petty cash expenses & other payments are being done by branches by adhering to DOA (delegation of authority). Verification of reconciliations prepared by divisional accountant. Monitoring & verifying timely deposition of last day collection (Cheque & cash)in bank for all the branches by adhering company guidelines. Also, Monitoring & guiding the executives to coordinate with banks & customers for early clearance of the cheques.

·  HR Management / Budgeting

Imparting training sessions for Divisional & Branch Staff and Business Partners. Recruitment and staffing by strictly adhering to the manpower plan. Organizing team meetings for technical and functional issues. Team building and motivation. Assisting new joinees in technical

and functional issues.

·  Administration / Statutory & Legal / Audit

Coordinating with Admin & other Departments for various infrastructure issues & statutory and legal compliances. Conducting Quarterly Audits for all locations attached to Division

[2] Worked as a Treasury Officer, (Financial Market Operations) – FX and Money market with Standard Chartered Scope International in Chennai from March 2007 till September 2008

Responsibilities:

·  Incoming Confirmations from Interbank customer

Handling of Cash, Tom, Spots, Forwards and Money Market queues. Matching of Counterparty confirmation with our own confirmation and checking for errors in confirmation details as well as sorting out the same. Ensuring currency cut off times are met hence payments are made as per agreed deadlines.

·  Phone Confirmation

Liaising with internal and external counterparty by medium of the telephone to obtain

Confirmations. Speedy matching of trades which are still awaiting the swift confirmation message.

Handling queries raised by counterparty regarding incorrect confirmation details, incomplete Settlement Instructions and outstanding trades.

·  Routing of Swift Messages

Sending of 399 (free format message) highlighting the discrepancies noticed in the dealt trades

and for unrecognized trades. Checking of MT 300 & 320 received in paper format and tallying the confirmation details with the trades in our system. Performing an inspection of MT 103 & 202 swift messages for determining the payment Instructions of third party & for interbank.

·  Scrutiny of Broker Notes

Matching of broker notes with our trade details which are still awaiting confirmation from

Counterparty. End of Day reconciliation between our trade database and broker online system to

Confirm the authenticity of the broker notes.

·  MIS Reporting

Producing the Duplicate Deal Report in which a log of possible duplicate deals is generated and

This is cross checked and subsequently the duplicate deals are cancelled ensuring duplicate

payment is not effected. Preparing the Front Office Errors Report which captures the errors committed at the front office Level which do not have any financial loss implications.

[1] Title : Breaking Country Silos (BCS)

Organization : Standard Chartered.

Duration : 4 months (June 2007 – September 2007)

Responsibilities:

a) A project undertaken to restructure Finance Market Operations making them Process specific

Instead of Country specific thereby ensuring efficient and effective service round the clock.

b) This project also ensures effective load balancing that is work allocation is fair and equal.
