NICK BOOTHE BASEBALL SHOWCASE
Nick Boothe, the head baseball coach at Virginia Wesleyan College, would like to invite you to the 18th Annual “Nick Boothe Fall Baseball Showcase”. The showcase will take place on TWO consecutive weekends:
· SESSION #1: Friday, November 2 - Sunday, November 4.
· SESSION #2: Friday, November 9 - Sunday, November 11.
The purpose of the showcase is to display the talents of high school baseball players for Major League Scouts and College/University coaches along the East Coast. Past showcase participants, have been picked in the Major League Baseball draft or have received college scholarship offers. The college coaches come from Division I, II, and III level schools. Additionally, all professional scouts attending each showcase are cordial, accessible, and will answer ALL questions regarding the talent of the participant.
All participants are tested in key skill areas including: arm strength, speed in the 40 & 60-yard dash, agility, fielding, and hitting. This is an excellent opportunity for the athlete to display his talent for the professionals on all levels of baseball. The Showcase also offers many lectures and clinics about the fundamentals of baseball.
On Friday evenings of both Showcases, the "Baseball Forum", which has become a favorite event for both parents and student-athletes, hosts a panel of college coaches and MLB scouts who provide answers to any questions about how to prepare and what steps to take when considering colleges or a professional career in baseball. On Saturday, the participants will participate in the Showcase Games, which will begin at 8 a.m. All games will be played at the VWC Baseball Complex. On Sunday, at the conclusion of each Showcase, every participant will receive 2 evaluations. The first evaluation is a Player Evaluation, which includes the following information: arm strength grades, running times, catchers throwing times, and pitching velocities. The second evaluation is a Hitting Evaluation. Each participant will receive a 16 frame-by-frame picture of his hitting skills. The participant will have a personal evaluation ON SITE by one of the college coaches or MLB baseball scouts on his hitting fundamentals.
SHOWCASE COST
There are only 150 spaces available in each Expo weekend, SO REGISTER EARLY. The cost per Showcase is $300.00. A NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of $200.00 must accompany the showcase registration application and must be received by Saturday, OCTOBER 20. Please make all checks or money orders payable to NICK BOOTHE. If your deposit is NOT received by Saturday, October 20, the FULL PAYMENT of $300.00 must accompany your showcase registration application and must be paid in the form of a MONEY ORDER. ALL BALANCES MUST BE PAID By October 27th. NO BALANCES WILL BE ACCEPTED THE DAY OF REGISTRATION. Remember to send your deposit early to guarantee your participation in the baseball event of the year.

EARLY REGISTRATION: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1 and NOVEMBER 8:
There will also be an EARLY REGISTRATION held Thursday night from 7 pm – 10 pm at the Holiday Inn Va. Beach-Norfolk Hotel and Conference Center. At registration you will receive the weekend’s itinerary for all of the showcase activities.
REGISTRATION: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2 and NOVEMBER 9
Registration for the showcase will be held at the Virginia Wesleyan College Baseball complex between 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon. At registration you will receive the weekend’s itinerary for all of the showcase activities. All Friday activities, lectures and the baseball forum will take place at the V.W.C. Baseball Complex and will begin promptly at 12:30p.m. All participants must be dressed to participate on Friday by 12:30 p.m.
SHOWCASE SCHEDULE AND ITINERARY
Each participant will receive a detailed schedule of events and a detailed itinerary the day of registration. Below you will find a list of events that will occur during your weekend at the showcase.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2 and NOVEMBER 9: 12:30 pm – 5:30 pm: Participants are tested on the following baseball skills:
· Running time – 40 & 60 yard dash
· Arm grade
· Pitching velocities
The "SHOWCASE BASEBALL FORUM" begins at approximately 5:30 pm, immediately following Friday’s skill session in the Jane Batten Gymnasium. A panel of College and/or University coaches and MLB scouts will provide answers to any questions about what steps to take when considering colleges or a professional career in baseball.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 3 and NOVEMBER 10: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
The student-athletes participate in the Showcase Games. All games will take place at the Virginia Wesleyan College Baseball Complex.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 4 and NOVEMBER 11: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
· Hitting drills
· Tee work
· Hitting cages
· Dry swings

There will be NO REFUNDS DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER. However, in case of a HURRICANE on a showcase weekend, the make-up weekend dates are as follows: If there is a HURRICANE on the Nov 2 – 4 showcase weekend, the makeup date will be November: 16 – 18. If there is a HURRICANE on the Nov 9 -11 showcase weekend, the makeup date will be November 23 – 25.
