Co-requisite:EDU 250 – Foundations of Education (Note: Withdrawal from EDEL 311 requires withdrawal from EDU 250. Withdrawal from EDU 250 requires withdrawal from EDEL 251.)

Catalog Description: The first in a sequence of clinical and field experience courses. Students participate in field experiences and then reflect on what they have observed and learned. Students will spend approximately 15 hours observing in the public schools.

LiveText Portfolio Workshops

You are required to attend one workshop for the entire workshop time. You must take items for your portfolio (resume, biography, artifacts, etc.) with you to this class in an electronic format. You will be working with LiveText to create your portfolio. This is not an open work time; it is a workshop that you must attend from start to finish, and you must REGISTER for the workshop! For workshop dates and times, please refer to the Fall 2007 GBC catalog.

Field Trip Expectations

1)Meet at the designated location and time (TBA); pad and pencil in hand.

2)Dress professionally, as if you were applying for a teaching position.

3)Speak softly in the halls.

*You will not pass the class if any of these items are not completed satisfactorily.

Grading:

EDEL311 is evaluated as P/W (Pass/Withdraw).

In order to receive a Pass, students

  • must complete all requirements in the course
  • must receive at least 150 points

Regardless of the points earned, a student must withdraw from EDEL 311 and 250 if

  • s/he receives a poor evaluation from the cooperating teacher
  • s/he has an unexcused absence in the observation classroom
  • s/he fails to attend a LiveText workshop
  • s/he accumulates more than one absence in EDEL 311

Late assignments submitted after midnight on the due date will receive half credit. Late assignments submitted after midnight of the following day will receive no credit.
