Job Title: Urban Forestry Crew
Reports to: Director of Tree Planting
Job Summary:
Casey Trees, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring, enhancing and protecting the tree canopy of Washington, D.C., seeks two Urban Forestry crew members to support our Tree Planting and Tree Care programs and activities.
Responsibilities include:
· Work as part of a small team of up to 2-6 crew members in tree planting, pruning and maintenance projects
· Assist with all aspects of field operations and logistics as required for tree planting and care programs including tree and materials ordering, un/loading, delivering, site prep, planting, pruning, watering, etc.
· Implement in-house, year-round planting , pruning and tree maintenance activities/operations
· Assist with the maintenance of vehicles, power equipment and tools
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Ability to lift a minimum of 100 pounds
· A hands-on person with proclivity to work with machines, power equipment, hand-tools,
· Availability to work 7am – 3pm; frequent Saturdays from Oct 1 – Dec 15
· Enthusiastic with a positive attitude and strong work ethic; good sense of humor appreciated.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to engage volunteers, community partners and high school students and to reinforce strong culture of safety
· Demonstrated interest in Casey Trees’ mission.
· Valid driver’s license is a plus
Position duration and Compensation:
This is a short-term/temporary, full-time position from Sept 1 to December 31 with opportunity for overtime, and possibility to extend. Compensation is $11-13.00/hour depending on experience.
