A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE IRMO HIGH SCHOOL YELLOW JACKETS BOYS’ VARSITY SOCCER TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2003 CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, AND TO WISH THEM CONTINUED ATHLETIC AND ACADEMIC SUCCESS.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly honor the Irmo Yellow Jackets High School Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team for winning the 2003 Class AAAA State Championship at Memorial Stadium in Columbia; and

Whereas, the Yellow Jackets finished the season with an overall record of twentyone wins and three losses; and

Whereas, this championship win marks the fourteenth state soccer title for the Yellow Jackets; and

Whereas, on their way to the state championship title, the Yellow Jackets won the Region 5 AAAA Title and the AAAA Lower State Championship; and

Whereas, the Yellow Jackets were led by Coach Phil Savitz, who earned his national record-tying twelfth state title and improved his coaching record to four hundred twenty-nine wins, forty-two losses, and five ties; and

Whereas, with this victory the Yellow Jackets moved into second place nationally among schools with the most state titles; and

Whereas, the members of the state championship team are: Austin Moody, Josh Endress, James Davila, Brent Jordan, Captain, Garrid Edmond, Michael Mukofsky, Zack Savitz, Captain, Sani Hadziahmetovic, Brandon Brashier, Alex Acree, Chad Domis, Captain, Jake Head, Christian Monroe, Patrick Faust, Saul Stoner, Captain, Marq Cobb, Grayson Mullins, Zach Prince, Chris McCartney, and Tray Rogers; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly applaud the Irmo High School Yellow Jackets Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team, their Head Coach, Phil Savitz, Assistant Coaches, Eddie Crosby, Dennis Cook, Denny Sago, and Welsh Conder, and the team’s trainers and managers on a remarkable season that culminated in an exciting championship win. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina commend and congratulate the Irmo High School Yellow Jackets Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team for winning the 2003 Class AAAA State Championship, and wish them continued athletic and academic success.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Phil Savitz on behalf of the Irmo High School Yellow Jackets Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team.
