Professional Experience:

USA Rugby 7’sAssistant Strength and Conditioning Coach2013-Present

  • Created yearly specific programs to the Sport of 7’s. Responsible for documentation of volume, intensity and creation of player profiles. This included player specific prehab/movement preparation, RPE to weight session, on field conditioning, skills sessions, and GPS monitoring of athletes during training.
  • Daily biometric measurements were taken, sleep quality, stress levels, and emotional status was all documented and included in part of the player profile to develop a trend line for future performance optimization.
  • Demonstrated and instructed proper acceleration/deceleration mechanics to improve efficiency. Coordinated specific top end speed mechanic drills, multi directional proprioception drills, appropriate plyometric movements, full body lifts and sport specific power developmental core work. Utilized Russian Special Forces“Systema” Training to acclimate the athlete to the most efficient way to move from a ground based position.
  • Responsible for showing all athletes proper nutrition guidelines, ISSA approved supplementation, and complex restorative techniques to enhance recovery and performance.
  • Worked hand in hand with the lead Physiotherapist/ATC to develop programs for injured players to support optimal return to play status. These injuriesranged from severe requiring surgery to minor requiring fascial manipulation and joint mobs. DNS, NKT and RNT were all modalities used to assist in the most effective treatment.

Adrenaline Lacrosse-(ADRENA-FIT program)-Speed and Agility Coach 2012

  • Instrumental in the creation of the first ever on field strength and conditioning program specific to the sport of Lacrosse.
  • Utilized unconventional tools to perform full body lifts and develop foundational strength in the youth population. These included lots of products from the SKLZ. Kettlebells, Rings, Speed Sacks, Sand Bags, Parachutes, Overspeed cords Medicine Balls, TRX’s, Rip Trainers, and body weight exercises to name a few.
  • I designed the program for a 4-day split with two days being speed and agility and two days being true strength work.
  • It has been ongoing for the last 12 weeks and incredible improvements in strength and agility have already been recorded. Projected length of the entire program is 5 months.

The Bishops School-Strength and Conditioning Coach (Summer Camp) 2012-2012

  • Lead instructor for a Strength, Speed and Agility Camp that had campers ranging from novice to elite. Each camp class would vary between 15-25 kids.
  • My goal was to teach each athlete about proper warm-ups previous to lift sessions utilizing activation, mobility and stability modalities to ensure injury risk reduction. Prior to on field speed and agility training, I would put the athletes through a full body “joint by joint” dynamic warm up.
  • Instructed campers on how to perform basic plyometric movements with eccentric absorption for impact resilience, proper sprinting mechanics to streamline kinematic patterns, and designed agility drills utilizing proprioception to determine foot placement/ angle and center of gravity management.

University of California San Diego: Strength and Conditioning Internship 2012-2012

  • Assisted with program design and implementation of Strength and Conditioning Programs for all athletic teams.
  • Actively directed athletes to “pre-hab” common areas of dysfunction due to their specific sport and the plethora of benefits of doing so.
  • Demonstrated and exacted proper execution of soft tissue therapies including SMR, joint mobilization, corrective exercise, PNF, stability and mobility exercises to improve athletic function.
  • Taught proper movement mechanics to improve athletes form, increase safety of the lift, and to develop more efficient and effective results.
  • Was an integral part of a UCSD work strong program which is a insurance funded rehabilitation program for the special/general population.

Flo Fitness, Westfield, New Jersey 2009-2012

To Whom It May Concern:

Alan Ozdamar has requested that I write him a letter of recommendation for your assistant strength and conditioning coaching position and it is my pleasure to do so. Being Alan’s intern coordinator and supervisor through his internship with UCSD Strength and Conditioning and Student Athlete Performance I feel confident that I can provide you with an accurate assessment of his skills.

Alan would be an immediate asset to your program. From a strength and conditioning coaching perspective I have noticed distinct coaching qualities in Alan that I feel are innate to coaches. He was one of my best if not the best intern that I have had the pleasure of mentoring. He was always the first to help out and lend a hand and never had to be told to do something. Along those lines he is very observant and because of that he is able to keep busy and stay ahead. Dan is very eager to learn and always takes on tasks with enthusiasm. He is diligent about the projects he is given and finishes them in a timely fashion while also taking pride in the quality of his work. It was obvious to me early on that Alan had previous experience coaching and that he possessed a passion for the profession. I think you would find him to be one of your most dependable and hardest working individuals.

From a personality standpoint, Alan showed the ability to build rapport and gain the respect of every student-athlete in every population that he was put in front of. His demeanor is down to earth but he knew how to get the attention of the athletes he was working with. I have noticed a calm confidence about him in which the student athletes seemed to respond to. Alan always did a great job in communicating what he wanted done and how it should be done in a clear and concise tone. I had complete confidence in Alan when he was with any of my teams.

In closing, Alan has outstanding qualities and all the abilities that a great coach possesses. I can say without reservation that he would be a great addition to your staff. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any further assistance.

Sincerely,

To Whom It May Concern,

Over the past years I have had the pleasure of getting to know Alan through a mutual friend in the strength and conditioning field. When I first had met Alan he was en route to take his NASM-CPT test. Within 4 months he had accomplished that goal and had already been looking to the horizon for the next challenge ahead. This was his CSCS test. Soon after he had tackled this challenge and was looking ahead to the future he told me about this as he put “super awesome internship”.

His type of motivation is rarely seen, but when it is, it's a talent to nurture. He has grown from not only being mentored by such strength coaches as myself, but from all those around him. He has a knack for absorbing knowledge quicker than most and implementing it immediately when appropriate and needed. In the past 12 months I have personally had the pleasure of getting to know him closer and learn what his true passions are. He has spoke of this internship VERY highly and has always set it in his future for another great learning experience to grow as a leading coach in this field.

His patient and ever vigilant eye for proper form and execution are undeniable. He is a TRUE coach with a great potential way past his years. Aside from the many times Alan has had to come to Leverage Training Center to get his hands dirty with the athletes (which has been extensive) he has attended many excellent seminars including Program Design, Soft tissue work, Athletic motivation and Corrective Exercise Technique all in the efforts of bettering himself.

It is my distinguished pleasure to recommend Alan for such a phenomenal opportunity. I can personally guarantee that he would not only be outstanding for the position, but that his demeanor towards the athletes, enthusiasm for his love of work, and unbridled joy for developing hard workers will make him an asset that is found too few, and way too far in between.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for verbal conformation of the above.

Warmest Regards,

Rich Mejias, CSCS

To Whom It May Concern,

I have the pleasure on knowing Alan Ozdamar for the last two years. He was one of three students in our first ever Mentor Program. From the first day of the mentor program he has been super excited and eager to learn. He is the epitome of a sponge. He has learned more in two years then most trainers will ever learn in their career.

I have watched him grow from an N.A.S.M CPT to a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach. However his certifications do not do his knowledge any justice. During his time at FLO Fitness he has had the pleasure of working with and learning from Chiropractors, Massage Therapist, Nutritionist, Physical Therapist, Athletic Trainers and many others.

He is also one of the masterminds behind our programming at FLO Fitness. He helped establish our exercise library for our 5 Levels of FLO program. It was designed to train our High School Athletes. He is our group training specialist due to his knack for being extremely creative with his exercises and ability to connect with clients.

I would strongly recommend Alan for any internship position. He would be a great asset to any program he is a part of. His leadership skills and ability to work in groups makes him a perfect fit where he is needed. He would also make the most of any experience that he goes through. Any information given to him will not fall on deaf ears. It will be learned and implemented.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

To Whom It May Concern,

I first met Alan when I brought my services to the fitness studio he was working in to help the owner build a post-rehabilitative facility. Alan immediately expressed interest in my offering and was eager to start learning better ways to help his clients. As a C.H.E.K Level 4 Practitioner I have learned to identify those trainers that are on their way to the top by their humility and passion for helping others.

Alan unlike any of the others trainers at this facility was always ready to listen and I watched as he quickly integrated what he had learned into his clients program. Alan also has a wonderful respect for his clients and stays focused on keeping them in good form while making sure they have a fun and safe workout.

I believe that what sets him apart from many of the trainers I have known is that he isn’t intimidated by someone who knows more than he does. He simply moves himself close to that person and absorbs everything he can. That, for me, is the sign of a great trainer.
