H.R. No. 943

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The Air Force JROTC cadets of C. E. King High School in Houston had a sterling allaround performance at the 2001 Air Force JROTC National Drill Championships, and their significant accomplishments are indeed worthy of special legislative recognition; and

WHEREAS, Held at the Prince George's County Sports & Learning Complex in Landover, Maryland, the invitationonly national drill championships featured schools from across the nation with Air Force JROTC units that had previously distinguished themselves in other state and national competitions; C. E. King High School and Oakridge High School in Conroe were the Lone Star State representatives in this prestigious firstever event; and

WHEREAS, The King High School cadets took first place in the unarmed regulation, armed exhibition, and unarmed commander competitions; moreover, they captured second place in the armed inspection category and finished in fourth place in the armed color guard, unarmed exhibition, and unarmed inspection divisions; and

WHEREAS, The superb showing could not have been possible without the contributions of all of the cadets, including Johanna Gaviria, Crystal Semien, Carissa Kirkland, Christina Cooper, Erika Ramirez, Liliane Adames, Jessica Cisneros, Andrea Cisneros, Cipriana Alvarado, Susie Cervantez, Norma Gonzalez, Savannah Pena, Michelle Pena, Sherell Mouton, Dannetta Green, Marshall Tillis, Michael Tijerina, Julius Ortega, Antonio Cisneros, Ryan Johnston, Landon Cruz, Emmanuel Perez, Aaron Laws, Joshua Dawson, Aaron Ortega, Miguel Sepulveda, Omar Sandoval, Nicholas Gaviria, Danny Delgado, and Lawrence Ceballos; and

WHEREAS, The hard work and dedication of all of these fine young people is truly commendable, and it is most fitting to pay tribute to them at this time; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Air Force JROTC cadets from C.E. King High School in Houston on their outstanding achievements at the 2001 Air Force JROTC National Drill Championships and extend to them best wishes for success and happiness in their future endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the cadets as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
