Temporary; 5 or 4 days per week (please state your preference)

Reports to:Director
Responsible for:The development and implementation of fundraising strategy.

Provision of leadership for all fundraising activities and meeting agreed targets.

Management of the fundraising team.

Membership of the management team working together to deliver the overall strategic plan for the organisation and to deliver day to day operations.

About this role

This is a great opportunity for an experienced fundraiser to head up a dynamic team of fundraisers at a turning point for the organisation.

Global Justice Now is unique – we don’t work overseas, but challenge the root causes of global poverty, inequality and injustice here. We receive the majority of our funding from individual members and supporters, so a strategic understanding of direct marketing and supporter retention is a must. But legacies, trusts and major donations make up substantial amounts of our funding mix, so a broad knowledge of fundraising gained in a campaign organisation is important.

We have a talented team of fundraisers, who work closely with the campaigns and communications teams. We are looking for someone who can give real strategic direction to this team, helping develop short-term trust relationships as well as a long-term supporter base which can keep us independent and vibrant. It’s hands-on and challenging – but very rewarding work.

About Global Justice Now

Global Justice Now is an activist-led organisation campaigning against global poverty, inequality and injustice. We are currently working to ensure people can have control over their food systems, that we increase access to energy in a carbon-constrained world, and that we defeat an unjust trade agreement being negotiated here in Europe.

Global Justice Now is not a charity, though we have a charitable wing. This allows us to take uncompromising stands on the issues which underlie world poverty. We do not give aid, but our campaigns change the policies of governments and companies in order to undermine poverty.

Global Justice Now has an active network of local groups and supporters who receive regular updates and actionmaterials, which enable them to take effective action. We work by undertaking research, lobbying decision-makers, producing campaign and educational materials and supporting individual campaigners and local groups. We are based in Oval, south London. We also have an office in Edinburgh.

Fundraising team

Global Justice Now’s fundraising team is responsible for raising the income (currently £1.8million a year) required to support our campaigns and activism. It is the main point of contact for our thousands of supporters. The team also consists of a trusts & partnerships officer, fundraising officer, fundraising assistant and supporter care assistant.

We are investing in developing our supporter base for both fundraising and campaigning, and also need to increase our income from trusts and institutional funders.
