SECTION TWO: MEETING THE CRITERIA

Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria listed in the Job Description and numbered 1-5 with the use of examples where appropriate in the boxes provided. There is a maximum word count of 500 words per criteria.

Essential experience:
1.  The design, project management & delivery of successful creative community engagement projects (i.e. logistics, budget, client liaison, evaluation, etc.)
2.  Working with a variety of community stakeholders (e.g. youth groups, local authorities, public health agencies, etc.) including groups of the population who are traditionally hard-to-reach and ensuring their voices are heard
3.  Writing successful funding proposals and bids for community engagement projects
4.  The use of a wide range of community engagement methods and techniques
Essential knowledge:
1.  An understanding of which community engagement approaches and tools are appropriate for which situation and the barriers or limitations of each
2.  An understanding of local political and social history and awareness of the appropriate manner to address sensitive issues when facilitating and designing participatory processes
3.  A critical awareness of how the arts and the creative industries can address a variety of social issues
4.  An awareness of various methods of recording a projects output’s and impacts and ability to identify the most appropriate method
Essential skills:
1.  Ensuring a series of concurrent projects with competing deadlines and pressures are delivered to high quality, time and on budget
2.  Resilience and patience if facing setbacks in a project, meeting barriers, or faced with intolerant views
3.  Building trust and rapport with people from diverse backgrounds
4.  Working flexibly at different times of the week and day, as project delivery times reflect stakeholder’s availability
5.  Working alone on own initiative with minimum supervision, as well as part of a team
Desirable knowledge & skills:
1.  Knowledge of current developments in relation to education performance, well-being, health and other social issues
2.  Knowledge (environmental, community and economic) of the East Belfast area
3.  New media/ filming, editing and music production skills
4.  Report writing and presentation skills (personal or computer based) to communicate the impact measures of projects to key stakeholders
