ABOUT THE PERSON

Professor Mutiga is a well-known academic in Kenya specializing in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Agriculture. He has extensive experience in the two areas after many years of teaching, examining and research in them at university level in Kenya, the region and in a number of countries in the world.

He holds academic qualifications from Kenya, USA and Australia and is a member a number of professional bodies in the country and beyond. He has published many papers in his area of specialization over the years and his work has been internationally recognized with honors among who is who in science, in the world. Currently he is involved in research aimed at developing a handy Kenyan dairy cow that would utilize minimal resources and achieve reasonable milk yields.

In between his academic duties, Professor Mutiga has found time to do many consultancies for international organization such as World Bank, FAO, African Development Bank among others in the areas of livestock. He has chaired many neighbour-hood, School, University and Church committees, and recently participated in formulation of a number of strategic plans. In the area of administration, he has serve as head of department and acted as Faculty Dean and College Principal for a number of years.
