Fair Advertising
Keith Rockwood requested that the Board re-discuss the opportunity to advertise at the Ingham County Fairgrounds in the main arena. Ingham County Farm Bureau and Farm Bureau Insurance could create a 4 foot by 8 foot banner to be displayed in the main arena with a 5 year commitment for a total cost of $200 per year plus the cost of a banner of about $150. Following discussion, John Kemler moved that we not spend our promotion dollars at this time on this form of advertising but use the money towards the 4H/FFA auction again next year, motion supported by Gladys Welker. Motion passed.
New Business:
Door Prizes
Barb reminded everyone that we need to canvas for door prizes and if Board Members knew of anyone that they could get door prizes from, please do so and let her know who they are so she could get their name in the County Annual Booklet no later than August 20.
Board Members
We have two Board Members leaving the Board this year, Gary Wilcox from District 4 which represents Bunker Hill, Ingham, Stockbridge and White Oak townships and Gary Haynes which is an At-Large position. We also have John Allen, District 2 and Don Oesterle, At-Large up for re-election. Don lives in District 4 so he could always fill the District 4 Board position and vacate the At-Large position and that would leave two At-Large positions to be filled. Several possible candidates were identified and Board Members were going to talk to these individuals to see if they would be interested in serving on the Board.
Committee Reports:
Promotion & Education:
Gladys Welker reported that the Food Stand profit was up $1000 from last year. Getting volunteers was much harder this year and was disappointing getting members to come out to help.
The Circle of Life was a success. We distributed over 1250 cow headbands during the fair. The two sows had baby piglets and other animals to see. Mason, Dansville and Webberville FFAs all worked during the Fair plus some other Farm Bureau members answering questions.
Young Farmer:
The Young Farmer position is still vacant.
Adjourn:
Meeting was adjourned at 8:55 a.m.
Cordially submitted,
Barbara Chapman
