JOB TITLE: On-Site Assessor – Plumbing

GRADE: Assessor (pay point 22 – 26 + uplift)

DEPARTMENT: Construction

RESPONSIBLE TO: Faculty Head

MAIN PURPOSE OF POST

To be responsible for the delivery of the plumbing and gas assessment, on a range of work based plumbing and gas programmes ensuring that all assessments and associated tracking and monitoring activities are undertaken to meet college and Awarding Body criteria.

Working within construction the role will contribute to the achievement of the college’s Strategic Plan, with reference to:

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  To support the learning outcomes of learners, both individually and in groups, through observation, assessment, guidance and delivery of underpinning knowledge and support for assessment and portfolio evidencing on work based assessment.

2.  Provide advice and guidance to employers and students in relation to programmes and provide guidance on progression opportunities.

3.  To lead on the implementation and future development of the e-portfolio system including providing training, as appropriate.

4.  To prepare candidates for end point assessment.

5.  To monitor, track and action plan student progress to ensure all learners complete by their planned end dates.

6.  Ensure student records are accurate, current and in line with college procedures and meet Awarding Body criteria.

7.  To guide students in building portfolios of evidence and to co-ordinate and monitor their production in line with awarding body requirements.

8.  To develop effective communication processes within the team and with the apprenticeship department to ensure a collaborative process exists to the benefit of the learners.

9.  To actively promote the provision of the department and assist with marketing activities.

10.  To keep up to date with current developments in own area(s) of occupational competence and information technology.

11.  Keep CPD up to date by reading relevant journals, going to meetings, attending relevant courses and volunteering in industry, as appropriate.

12.  Develop relationships with existing and new clients to establish new opportunities, consistent with the development strategy.

13.  To be fully flexible in order to meet employer engagement needs and market demands.

14.  Actively contribute to the success of the department by attending team meetings, complying with quality processes and contribute to the production of the CRAE 3 and the self-assessment report.

15.  Work closely with other assessors and the IV to support the department’s IV process. Act as Internal Verifier as required.

16.  Support the achievement of targets such as learner numbers, success, customer satisfaction and employer engagement.
