Year 11 Assessment Task 3 - Individual Project
- This task comprises 35 % of your total assessment mark.
- The task is due in class on Wednesday, the 14thof August.
Outcomes addressed: P2.2, P5.1, P6.1, P6.2, P7.1, P7.2
The task is to construct an information system that has a purpose. The chosen information system should be one of the following:
a database information system
a communication system
a transaction processing system
a decision support system
an automated manufacturing system
a multimedia information system
- The construction will follow the stages of planning, design and implementation.
- One large project or several small projects may be undertaken to fulfil the requirements of the course.
- The task is to be undertaken by individual students
- Students should identify the purpose for the information system, the intended participants, the data/information and its method of collection, the target audience, and the information technology that is utilised to complete this project.
- From the moment of commencement the student is required to keep a record of all work done in the form of a journal. This journal will be submitted along with the final project(s).
- The journal should clearly describe dates, times, people involved, technology used, work completed.
- On Thursday, the 2ndof May each student will submit a project plan that contains the following:
Title of project(s)
Their name
Purpose for this information system
Proposed timeframe
Suggested sources for data/information
Information technologies to be used
Anticipated participants
Target audience
- If you wish to alter the specifications of your project this can be done up to the start of Week 5 of Term 2.
- It is the responsibility of the student to inform the teacher of any proposed changes before they are enacted.
- In the Week 8 of Term 2 an interim project grade will be calculated. It will be based on the following:
adherence to your stated purpose
working within stated timeframes
demonstrated planning, design and implementation as is appropriate to this point
- When the due date arrives the final project(s) will be marked according to the following criteria:
adherence to your stated purpose
completion of all proposed components
demonstration that adequate testing has occurred
originality of thought and purpose
acknowledgement of content sources
Marking Scheme
- Project Plan – 5 marks
- Journal - 15 marks
- Interim mark- 5 marks
Final mark- 25 marks (50 marks total)
